Job summary

MKS Instruments, Inc. in Massachusetts is seeking a Production Technician 2 to set up, calibrate, test, and troubleshoot circuits, components, instruments, and mechanical assemblies. You will perform testing and troubleshooting of assemblies, with potential rework and preparation of technical reports.

The role requires 12–18 months’ troubleshooting experience, 2–5 years of assembly, soldering skills, and strong communication. A fast-paced environment with teamwork and PC skills is expected.

Qualifications

  • Technical school training or relevant electronics manufacturing experience.
  • 12–18 months’ experience troubleshooting to component level.
  • 2–5 years assembly experience.
  • Soldering skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment with quality focus.
  • Able to read drawings and use measurement instruments.
  • Familiar with PC programs (spreadsheets, databases, Windows).
  • Lean manufacturing and Oracle experience preferred.

A Day in Your Life at MKS: Production Tech 2 is responsible for the set-up, calibration, testing and troubleshooting of circuits, components, instruments and mechanical assemblies.

  • Performs testing and troubleshooting of assemblies and/or final systems
  • May complete rework on assemblies and/or systems as a result of testing
  • Prepare technical reports summarizing findings and recommending solutions to technical problems
  • May assist in the selection and setting up of specialized test equipment
Skills You Bring:
  • Technical school training, or relevant experience, and a minimum of 12-18 months’ experience troubleshooting to component level
  • 2-5 Years Assembly experience
  • Soldering skills and mechanical aptitude
  • Willing to work in a fast-paced, high volume production environment and still have commitment to the quality of the product
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be highly motivated, able to work independently, and be able to work in a team environment
  • Familiar with PC programs (spreadsheets, databases, windows, etc.)
  • Performs other duties as required
  • Ability to read drawings and use measurement instruments
Preferred Skills:
  • Proficiency in Oracle and Lean manufacturing preferred
  • Highly motivated and able to function in a team-oriented manufacturing environment

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
  • Perform activities such as sitting, standing, or typing for extended periods of time
  • Occasionally moves/positions object up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for 30% of the time
  • Must be able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information
  • The ability to observe documents and details at close range (within a few feet of the observer)
Pay Range:

Total Base Pay Range $18.89 - 31.49 per hour. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law.

Bonus:

This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in an amount to be determined by MKS [or as applicable].
