Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Production Team Member to operate converting machines and produce corrugated packaging at our Springfield, MA facility. The role requires the ability to work 1st or 2nd shift, with overtime as needed.

You will maintain quality, follow safety procedures, and participate in routine maintenance. The position offers a starting pay of $22.07 per hour plus shift differential, with comprehensive benefits including health insurance, 401(k) with match, pension, and paid time

Job Title: Production Team Member

Location: 320 Parker Street, Springfield, MA 01129

Pay: Starts at $22.07 per hour (plus shift differential for 2nd shift)

Shift: 1st Shift: 5am/7am – 3pm, Monday‑Friday or 2nd Shift: 3pm – 11pm/1am, 8‑10 hour shifts. Mostly hiring for 2nd Shift.

Overtime: Every other Saturday plus additional overtime as needed, which may include daily and/or weekend overtime.

Union: Plant is unionized.

Shift Availability

• Most openings are on the second shift.

• Pay rate starting $22.07/hr plus shift differential.

How you will impact WestRock

• Operate converting machines to produce corrugated packaging.
• Perform routine maintenance, adjust machine settings to achieve desired dimensions and quality.
• Inspect corrugated products for defects and take corrective actions as needed.
• Communicate with team members and supervisors to ensure production goals are met safely with quality products.
• Follow safety procedures and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment.
• Keep your work area clean and organized.
• Assist with other tasks as needed, such as loading and unloading materials, operating other machinery, and mentoring new team members.

What you need to succeed

• Safety mindset.
• Experience with high‑speed, high‑volume work, preferably manufacturing.
• Experience operating various manufacturing equipment, following specific directions, and operating powered equipment.
• Physical ability to lift up to 25 lbs., work in a fast‑paced environment, possibly up to 12‑hour shifts (including overtime).
• Attention to detail, ability to read a tape measure, basic math and computer skills.
• Willingness to work required overtime, including Saturdays and weekend work.
• Reliable transportation.
• Commitment to safety; must pass drug screen and comply with our substance‑abuse policy.
• Strong teamwork and attendance.
