Production Team Lead Job Description

Days/Hours: Monday-Thursday 5:00am-3:00pm

Department: Production

Reports To: Production Supervisor/Director of Manufacturing

General Summary

This position involves overseeing a Production Line consisting of anyone from 6-15 people or more. Team Leas is responsible for the quality and productivity of all production employees staffed on designated lines, as well as departmental safety. Additionally, the Team Lead position is accountable for ensuring that production scheduled for completion is executed in a timely manner and within all quality and safety procedures and for participation in performance management processes.

Primary Responsibilities

• Maintain production efficiency to the highest, ensuring that all finished goods meet customer’s specifications, cGMPS & SOPS.
• Work with Production Supervisor to make adjustments to the production lines, during the course of the day to increase production.
• Report to work 15 minutes before the start of the shift to prepare lines for startup.
• Complete and verify new line setups, including all BOM’s and F&A’s and required equipment for each new job running.
• Ensure proper line staffing to execute filling and packaging successfully.
• Team Lead is a “Hands on Team Lead” which fully participates in all aspects of the manufacturing line and process.
• Input finished good transactions to the system, verifying quantity and accuracy of materials prior to issuing.
• Ensure the safety and productivity of all employees assigned to designated tasks.
• Flexible and comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Enforce all safety and quality processing procedures.
• Enable effective communications between management and operators.
• Evaluate new employees and coach existing employees
• Maintain a clean and safe workplace in accordance with company policies
• Investigate and report all incidents (accidents, poor performance, kit shortages, kitting errors, excessive scrap)
• Suggest and implement cost-saving ideas
• Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.
  
  

Required Competencies, Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Thorough understanding of applicable Quality Control processes and procedures
• Intimate operating knowledge of all available processing equipment such as fillers, labelers, transfers, coding, etc.
• Ability to motivate others to meet demands established by the schedule.
• In depth understanding of established Team Manufacturing values and customer service policies
• Basic understanding of computers and data recording
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Bilingual English and Spanish is preferred.
• Basic math skills
  
  

Education and Experience

• Proven work experience as a Team Lead with 2 to 3 years of experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
  
  

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, and safely lift up to 50lbs
• Must show proficiency in the operation of all necessary equipment within the department
• Must be flexible and available to work Fridays hours when necessary, some overtime may be required.
