Job Description

Title: Production Team Lead
Reports To: Production Supervisor

Job Summary

The Team Lead oversees daily operations and provides frontline leadership within a designated production area. This hands-on role involves team coordination, active participation in welding, machining, and cutting tasks, supporting production goals, ensuring safety and quality standards, and fostering continuous improvement. Reports directly to the Production Supervisor.

Essential Functions

• Lead and support production staff with direction, training, and technical guidance.
• Coordinate with the Production Supervisor on planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
• Ensure timely completion of production operations meeting quality standards.
• Promote standardized work practices, safety, and cleanliness.
• Assist in operating key equipment and cross-train team members.
• Use welding and shop experience to troubleshoot issues and support team development.
• Suggest process and layout improvements for efficiency and safety.
• Contribute to skills development and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards such as AS9100 and ISO 14001.

Supervisory Responsibility

Provides daily leadership within the production team but does not have hiring or firing authority.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Welding and fab shop process knowledge preferred.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing and standardized work.
• Ability to interpret drawings, schedules, and instructions.
• Basic computer skills (Excel, ERP systems).
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Leadership ability in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of or ability to learn AS9100 and ISO 14001 standards.

Education

High school diploma or GED required, or equivalent experience.

Experience

Minimum 5 years manufacturing experience, including hands-on welding; leadership experience preferred.

Background Prerequisites

Must pass background check, employment verification, references, and drug testing.

Preferred Qualifications

• Leadership in manufacturing or production.
• Welding certifications or training.
• Familiarity with ERP or MES systems.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands

Must be able to stand, walk, lift materials (up to 25 lbs), operate machinery, and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. Must wear PPE and work in a noisy environment with typical manufacturing hazards.
