Job summary

AdvanTec Marine, a leader in marine innovation and manufacturing, seeks a Production Team Lead to supervise a fast-paced production line in Arlington, WA. You will guide front-line staff, coordinate with engineering, and ensure safety and quality while meeting production goals.

The role requires strong leadership, teamwork, and hands-on experience with welding, fabrication, electrical and hydraulic systems.

  • Experience with welding, fabrication, electrical and hydraulics, assembly and quality control.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the in-house Engineering Team to ensure timely delivery of projects.
  • Provide support to the Production Manager.
  • Lead daily crew talks and monitor daily hours.
  • Maintain Preventive Maintenance sheets.
  • Approve payroll and vacation time for the team.
  • Progressively discipline the department as needed.
  • Be accountable for bi-annual performance reviews for all team members.
  • Update department pace charts and monitor production flow.
  • Coordinate the team and ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Ensure production goals and schedule attainment are met.
  • Track and record production numbers daily.
  • Assist when equipment is down or supplies are short.
  • Escalate equipment issues to the Production Manager when needed.
  • Lead by example in safety and workmanship.
  • Ensure safe work practices are followed.

The Production Team Lead is responsible for the smooth and safe operation of their team, helping workers to meet goals, and mediating concerns with the Production Manager. The Team Lead position requires an individual who is comfortable interacting with front line staff, peers and plant management. It is a fast-paced environment requiring one to multi-task while performing the duties of the job. The Team Lead must set an example by working in a safe manner, following all Health and Safety policies and procedures, and using proper PPE.

Top Responsibilities
  • Working closely with our in-house Engineering Team, ensuring timely delivery of projects
  • Provide support to the department Production Manager
  • Daily crew talks
  • Daily scanned in hours between 75-80%
  • Collect and maintain department Preventive Maintenance sheets
  • Approve team payroll and vacation time
  • Progressive discipline in department as needed
  • Accountability for bi-annual performance reviews for all team members
  • Updating department Pace charts as needed
  • Monitor the flow of production; Prioritizing as required
  • Team Coordination: Coordinate the team and ensure they are applying all policies and procedures
  • Meeting Goals: Accountable for the team’s ability to meet production goals, overall schedule attainment
  • Track and record production numbers daily
  • Provide assistance as needed when equipment is down, or there are issues with supplies
  • Communicate to the department Production Manager if equipment is not operating properly.
  • Report any observed performance issues to the Production Manager
  • Lead by example (safety and workmanship)
  • Make sure all employees in department are following safe work procedures
  • Perform work in a safe manner by following all safety rules and practices
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE): steel toed footwear, safety glass, face mask, etc.
  • Report any unsafe work practices or dangerous work habits
  • Monitor work area by checking for trip hazards, unsafe or faulty equipment and/or any unsafe conditions.
  • Work in accordance with documented procedures and complete all applicable records
Qualifications:
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • An eye for quality is essential to uphold the standards of final products
  • Must be a team player – possess interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management and organization
  • Comfortable with computers and learning new production equipment software applications as required
  • Minimum 2-years’ experience in a production facility and multicultural work staff environment
