Job summary

Cross Resource Group in Tucson, AZ seeks a Production Support Electrical Engineer to rapidly diagnose factory and supplier issues, define corrective paths, and own problems through closure.

The candidate will troubleshoot digital, analog, RF, or mixed-signal circuit card assemblies and communicate across engineering, quality, operations, and suppliers. Onsite, 1st shift, long-term renewable contract.

Qualifications

• Hands-on testing and debugging of circuit card assemblies and electro-mechanical systems.
• Ability to read schematics, PCB layouts, and BOM.
• Proficient with oscilloscope, logic analyzers, function generators, and programmable power supplies.
• U.S. citizenship and active/interim Secret clearance at start.
• Onsite work in Tucson; travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Make rapid technical assessments of production problems and establish corrective plans.
• Diagnose failures in circuit card assemblies and electro-mechanical hardware using test equipment.
• Coordinate corrective actions across electrical engineering, manufacturing, quality, operations, supply chain, and suppliers.
• Own issue resolution from triage to verified closure with status updates and decisions.
• Prepare and present engineering change documentation for formal review boards.
• Interpret schematics, PCB layouts, and BOMs to find root causes and prevent recurrence.
• Evaluate recurring failure modes and recommend design, process, or supplier improvements.
• Develop supplier statements of work and support production activities.

Production Support Electrical Engineer

A high-reliability electronics manufacturing team needs an experienced electrical engineer to keep complex hardware builds moving by rapidly diagnosing factory and supplier issues, defining corrective paths, and owning problems through closure.

The strongest fit is a hands-on BSEE with 5-10 years of production, manufacturing, test, or sustaining engineering experience who can troubleshoot digital, analog, RF, or mixed-signal circuit card assemblies and communicate clearly across engineering, quality, operations, and suppliers.

Location: Tucson, Arizona 85756

Schedule: 1st shift, 7:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.; 9/80A schedule

Work Setting: Onsite

Role Type: Contract

Contract Duration: Long-term renewable contract with ability to extend multiple years or convert to permanent

Contract Classification: All hours billed at straight time; no overtime premium

Responsibilities

• Make rapid technical assessments of production problems, identify missing information, compare urgency across competing issues, and establish a disciplined troubleshooting or correction plan.
• Diagnose failures in complex circuit card assemblies and electro-mechanical hardware using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, function generators, power supplies, and related electronic test equipment.
• Resolve production and supplier issues by coordinating corrective actions across electrical engineering, manufacturing, quality, operations, supply chain, and external suppliers.
• Own issue resolution from initial triage through verified closure, including clear status updates, technical decisions, risks, and next steps.
• Prepare, maintain, and present engineering change documentation, technical drawings, and change packages for formal review boards.
• Interpret schematics, printed circuit board layouts, bills of material, test results, defect data, and yield trends to determine root cause and prevent recurrence.
• Evaluate recurring failure modes and recommend design, process, test, or supplier improvements that improve throughput and hardware quality.
• Develop supplier statements of work and support general electrical engineering activities in a production environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent accredited engineering degree.
• 5-10 years of relevant electrical engineering experience in production support, manufacturing engineering, test engineering, sustaining engineering, or hardware troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience testing or debugging digital, analog, RF, and/or mixed-signal circuit card assemblies or electro-mechanical systems.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, PCB layouts, and bills of material.
• Practical experience with common electronic laboratory equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, function generators, and programmable power supplies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to lead cross-functional issue resolution.
• U.S. citizenship and an active or interim Secret clearance at the start of the assignment.
• Ability to work onsite in Tucson and travel domestically when required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Production engineering experience involving high-reliability aerospace, defense, avionics, missile, radar, sensor, or other mission-critical electronics.
• Electronic or electro-optical subsystem design experience, including circuit design, assembly processes, and fabrication practices.
• Experience with electrical design, simulation, analysis, and measurement tools such as Xpedition or Mentor Graphics, PSpice, MATLAB, Mathcad, CST, HFSS, or ADS.
• Subsystem integration, verification, environmental test, failure analysis, root-cause corrective action, and continuous-improvement experience.
• Ability to work independently, lead small technical teams, and provide technical guidance and project oversight.
