Job summary

Stryten Energy is seeking a Night Shift Supervisor to lead the Terminals Department in Milwaukee. You will supervise direct reports, schedule production, manage inventory, and ensure safety, quality, 5S and housekeeping on a 12-hour, 2-2-3 shift.

The role emphasizes continuous improvement, coaching and training for staff, accurate downtime and scrap tracking, and adherence to BOMs, SOPs and ISO 9000 requirements.

Overview

Stryten Energy manufactures proprietary and custom injection molding products serving the industrial lead battery, automotive and consumer markets. Stryten Energy is expanding battery poly manufacturing and recycling output to help solve industry-wide supply constraints.

Terminals Department

The opening is on Nights with a 12 hour shift on a 2-2-3 schedule

Manages day to day operations of Terminals Department including supervising direct report employees, scheduling production, inventory control, and housekeeping. Improves and advances Terminal Department through continuous improvement projects to improve safety, quality, manufacturing, tooling, 5s, and production.

Responsibilities
  • Must embrace and follow the Core Beliefs and Values of Stryten Energy.
  • Safety is our overriding priority. If an unsafe condition is found to exist, actions must be taken immediately to correct the situation to keep all team members safe and get manufacturing equipment operational as soon as possible.
  • Follow and enforce all safety rules and regulations. Review work areas for safety compliance and safe work conditions. Investigate, document, and report each and all safety incidents and near misses according to policy before leaving at the end of your shift.
  • Ensure all employees are wearing proper PPE.
  • Assign all employees to the jobs they are to perform for the shift. Explain and teach employees what they need to do to perform their assigned job.
  • Ensure all employees are doing the jobs correctly and safely. This includes all operators are recording downtime and scrap correctly, operators are completing all required quality checks, and operators are completing their production paperwork and job cards correctly.
  • Provide employees with the tools and paperwork required for them to perform the job correctly.
  • Monitor all activities of the shift to maximize material and labor utilization. Minimize scrap in all areas. Responsible for achieving company expectations regarding set up and run time. Record and monitor all press cycle times.
  • Communicate with outgoing and incoming Supervisors to review production schedule, changeover schedule, and any issues.
  • Complete all daily production paperwork and timecards for accuracy and turn in before leaving for the day.
  • Complete all daily and weekly supervisor checklists and audits as assigned by manager.
  • Make sure all jobs running are done to the bill of materials.
  • This includes the correct materials, packaging, and labels.
  • Ensure all jobs running have an approved first shot approval.
  • Complete all QA and CMM checks as required.
  • Propose and implement improvements that will reduce product cost, increase output, increase machine up time, decrease expense, and provide a better and safer work environment.
  • Involve employees in investigating and solving customer, operational and safety issues.
  • Responsible for general housekeeping, organization of material/equipment and product flow. This to include housekeeping project assigned by Site Manager.
  • Train all direct reports as to their responsibilities. Follow orientation and training guidelines. Complete required documentation on a weekly basis
  • Administer performance reviews and coach all personnel to improve individual performance. This to include evaluations of new hire employees as they are being trained and prior to hire.
  • Propose and implement improvements that will reduce product cost, increase output, increase machine up time, decrease expense, and provide a better and safer work environment.
  • Involve employees in investigating and solving customer, operational and safety issues.
  • Attend all Management meetings, safety committee meetings, and all employee meetings as required by upper management.
  • Responsible for employee behavior, morale, and the well-being of employees on the shift. Administer company rules, policies and procedures.
  • Must complete all required hazardous waste training and comply with all Stryten hazardous waste and handling procedures.
  • Follow all ISO 9000 requirements including creating and maintaining ISO documents, implement changes as they are updated.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned to meet the needs of the business.
Qualifications

Education, Experience

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience supervising or managing a manufacturing production team and experience leading, performing, and completing continuous improvement projects. Related work experience will be considered.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Environment & Physical Demands

  • In order to perform the essential job functions of this position, some physical demands are required. The individual in this position will be frequently engaged in activities that require body mobility in order to engage in: lifting and carrying items in excess of 50 lbs., moving about in the workplace utilizing ladders, catwalks, and scaffolding. The individual in this position will need to sit, stand, kneel, walk, bend, crawl, stoop, and life up to 30lbs regularly. Maintaining regular attendance, following instructions, understanding workplace materials, and communicating with others are essential to being successful in this role.
  • While on the manufacturing floor, employees may be exposed to moving machinery, noise, dust, fumes, varying temperatures, and other industrial conditions. Required personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn in designated areas.
