Job summary

DuBois Chemicals, Inc. is seeking a Production Supervisor for the second shift to oversee chemical blending and mixing operations and lead production staff to deliver safe, efficient, and on-schedule results.

You will manage daily production activities, ensure quality standards, support employee development, and drive plant performance improvements across the team.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in supervisor/management roles.
  • Experience with continuous improvement and driving change.
  • Proficiency in budgeting and strategic planning.
  • Strong team-building and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of ISO, OSHA, and EPA regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office; WMS experience preferred.
  • Experience operating warehouse equipment and forklifts.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize daily tasks and production needs.
  • Oversee the daily activities of the production, operations, recycling, and shipping & receiving teams.
  • Delegate production assignments to the applicable team.
  • Inspect all materials and equipment to detect malfunctions.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Supervise the mixing and packaging of batches [liquids and powders].
  • Ensuring quality output and on-time completion.
  • Monitoring hourly performance levels in Department to achieve production standards and resolve problems.
  • Ensuring the completion of production records (daily production reports, process monitors, work orders, etc.) and performing the data entry, as required.
  • Responding to daily employee relations issues, and contributing to the resolution of associate concerns, to help promote a harmonious work environment.
  • Ensuring new and temporary associates are properly trained and monitoring their work.
  • Maintain good housekeeping processes.
  • Foster a positive work environment.
  • Recommend process improvements to the Plant Manager.
  • Assists the Plant Manager to identify and lead investments and organizational changes needed to support sales growth, and improvements in profitability.
  • Skilled to operate a sit-down and reach forklift.
  • Oversee the performance of preventative maintenance and participate in general upkeep of production equipment.
  • Maintain daily logs and record plant operating data.
  • Effectively, timely, and respectfully communicate and interact with other employees, supervisors, individuals from other organizations, and customers.
  • Ensure supplies are distributed as required throughout the facility.
  • General housekeeping of the plant and surrounding areas.
  • Report process and/or safety equipment issues to the Plant Manager.
  • Comply with all safety requirements within the company.
  • Comply with all PPE requirements and safe handling practices as required from SDS and company procedures.
  • Follow WHMIS, MSDS and all other safety training requirements and procedures.
  • Follow all government and regulatory requirements when handling and transporting chemical materials.
  • Regular and sustained attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or needed

POSITION SUMMARY

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3-5 years of prior supervisor/management experience
  • Experience with continuous improvement and driving change
  • Proficient with business management principles (i.e. budgeting, strategic planning, etc.)
  • Proven experience with team building and engaging the team to identify best practices
  • Working knowledge of ISO, OSHA, and EPA regulations
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office; WMS experience preferred
  • Proficient in hardware [industrial] printers and label software [Bartender]
  • Experience operating warehouse equipment
  • Previous experience in chemical production, manufacturing, and/or other related fields
  • Knowledge of tools and equipment
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A professional and positive attitude
  • Experience operating a sit-down forklift
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • Standing and /or walking a minimum of 6 hours of an 8-hour shift.
  • Specific vision requirements include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Management or Leadership Training preferred
OTHER INFORMATION

Full-Time: 40 hours a week

2nd Shift: Monday - Friday (2:00 PM to 10:30 PM)

Direct Reports: 12-15

This position works in an enclosed building that is subject to variances in temperatures, extreme heat in summer, and colder temperatures in winter.

This position frequently lifts, pushes, pulls or carries up to 50 pounds of product.

This position can work various hours.
