Job summary

PowerSecure in Durham, NC seeks a Manufacturing Supervisor to directly supervise manufacturing cells, manage costs, safety, quality, and schedule, and lead Team Leads and Team Members in their assigned area.

This role requires strong Lean manufacturing experience, ERP fluency (IFS preferred), and the ability to review shop orders, ensure material readiness, and drive on-time performance and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree preferred.
  • 2+ years in manufacturing, preferably in assembly of electrical switchgear/power generation equipment.
  • 1+ years leadership/supervisory experience.
  • Competency with ERP systems used in manufacturing (IFS or SAP preferred).
  • Ability to read/interpret technical drawings and documentation (schematics, assembly drawings, operating manuals, safety rules, standard work).
  • Ability to compile data/reports on performance vs goals (on-time, quality).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and scheduling software.
  • Communicate on-time, quality, safety, and improvement initiatives to cell leaders.
  • Understand production processes and relation to schedules/due dates.
  • Monitor labor hours and track performance vs goals.
  • Interface with engineering for quick design clarifications to minimize delays.
  • Strong problem solving; excellent verbal/written communication; Lean manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle or IFS.
  • Experience in manufacturing electrical switchgear/power generation equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Direct supervision of manufacturing cells or a portion of production; responsible for cost, safety, quality, and schedule.
  • Review upcoming shop orders for accuracy of routing and labor hours; flag errors for correction before assembly.
  • Ensure material kits are available and quality checks completed prior to assembly; drive efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Supervisors/Production Managers to schedule capacity to meet shipment dates without compromising quality.
  • Review PTO requests and approve/reject based on team goals and deadlines.
  • Ensure ERP transactions (IFS) match physical work; align scope/timing.
  • Compile reports from Cell/Team Leads on on-time performance, material status, labor utilization, and quality.
  • Monitor attendance clocking and manufacturing clocking in IFS; resolve discrepancies.
  • Create/distribute corrective actions inside the team.
  • Inspect products for compliance with engineering documents.
  • Drive 5S and other lean initiatives in manufacturing.
  • On-site 5 days per week; occasional travel for training/meetings; flexible hours as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to compile data and reports for communicating performance versus goals (on‑time, quality levels, etc.).
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and scheduling software.
  • Efficiently communicate on‑time, quality, safety, and improvement initiatives to cell leaders.
  • Understand production process and how they relate to production schedules and due dates.
  • Monitor labor hour allotment to jobs and track/trend performance versus goals.
  • Interface with engineering to ensure design questions or clarifications are answered quickly and clearly to minimize production delays.
  • Effective Problem Solving. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experienced with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle or IFS.
  • Experience in the manufacturing of electrical switchgear and/or electrical power generation equipment is highly preferred.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Direct supervision of manufacturing cells or a specific portion of production. Responsible for cost, safety, quality and schedule. Direct management responsibility for both Team Leads and all Team Members in their assigned cell(s) or area.
  • Reviews upcoming shop orders for accuracy of scheduled work centers and estimated labor hours (routings). Flags errors to Planning for correction prior to the commencement of assembly.
  • Ensures material kits are available and any quality checks of kitted parts (kit validations) are done prior to the commencement of assembly. Drives efficiency by ensuring team members under their leadership have all the parts and information needed to meet production goals. Proactively flags problems that affect on‑time performance and/or quality before goals are missed.
  • Works together with other Supervisors and Production Managers to ensure production capacity is efficiently scheduled and utilized to meet planned shipment dates without compromising quality.
  • Reviews PTO (paid time off) requests. Approves/Rejects based on his/her team’s production goals and deadlines.
  • Ensures transactions in ERP system (IFS) match and align with the physical work – in terms of scope and timing.
  • Compiles reports from Cell/Team Leads on on‑time performance, material status, labor utilization, and quality.
  • Monitors and approves attendance clocking’s and Manufacturing clocking’s in IFS before required deadline. Resolves any discrepancies in clocking hours and/or allocations to shop orders.
  • Creates and/or distributes corrective actions (disciplinary, training, processes/procedures) within their team.
  • Inspects products manufactured within his/her teams ensuring compliance with engineering documents.
  • Helps drive and implement 5S and other lean initiatives in manufacturing.
Working Conditions
  • This position is on‑site 5 days per week.
  • Occasional travel may be required for training or meetings.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours to accommodate different business needs.
