Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Achieves the Manufacturing KPI’s.
  • Maintains a safe working environment in their department and in the plant.
  • Addresses quality issues daily and safeguards product quality.
  • Trains Associates in wheel manufacturing fundamentals and safety/production requirements.
  • Supports TPM and daily maintenance practices to protect equipment.
  • Manages shift manpower, cross-training, and staffing for KPI achievement.
  • Ensures housekeeping with 5S and ongoing plant condition improvements.
  • Addresses production issues to guarantee departmental performance.
  • Drives Kaizen and Quality Circle initiatives for process improvement.
  • Monitors environmental compliance and applies IATF16949/ISO 14001:2015 requirements.
  • Adheres to HR and Safety policies; controls department budget.
  • Completes timesheets, payroll, and reports; participates in required meetings.
  • Conducts annual performance reviews with action plans and timelines.

Full Time Supervisor Frankfort, KY, US

Salary Range: $75,000.00 To $82,000.00 Annually

Position Summary

Under routine supervision of the Manufacturing Manager, performs a variety of general supervisory duties. Utilizing the resources available to lead the Associates to meet the objectives and targets established by the senior management of the company. Displays ownership in the process and provides continuous improvement to meet and/or exceed target Key Performance Indicators.

Education, Experience, and Licenses/Certifications

(A comparable amount of training, education or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.)

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Business Management, Business Administration, or Engineering.

  • Achieves the Manufacturing KPI’s.
  • Maintains, corrects, supports and improves a safe working environment in their department and in the plant
  • Strives to achieve the highest quality wheels by continuously checking the process daily for potential quality issues and immediately addressing them when discovered
  • Trains Associates in the fundamentals of wheel manufacturing, ensuring that the understanding of the safety, quality, and productivity requirements of each process.
  • Safeguards the Company’s investment in machinery and equipment by ensuring that their Associates understand the fundamentals of TPM (Total Production Maintenance), and practice them on a daily basis.
  • Manages the manpower assigned to their shift to guarantee KPI’s will be achieved by cross training associates in more than one manufacturing position, planning for manpower shortages, and selecting the best people to fill open positions
  • Ensures that housekeeping in the work environment is practiced on a daily basis by using the 5S principles and monitoring the plant conditions and offering suggestions for improvement
  • Immediately addresses production issues, including breakdown, scrap, quality, process control, minor stoppages and cycle time deviations, to guarantee departmental performance
  • Continuously reviews the process and product for continuous improvement opportunities and works with their Associates, Staff, and Management to implement positive change through Kaizen and Quality Circle activities
  • Reviews their department for environmental impacts and compliance and addressing issues immediately when noted
  • Understands the IATF16949 and ISO14001:2015 requirements and supports the process to maintain these designations
  • Maintains a professional relationship with all support departments and staff.
  • Understands and supports Human Resource and Safety policies of the Company
  • Exercises strict cost control and containment regarding the department’s budget
  • Completes the administrative functions of the job including timesheets, payroll, check sheets, work reports, and other documents as required
  • Assists the Manager in various tasks as required
  • Attends scheduled required meetings
  • Performs a fair and unbiased annual Performance Review for each Associate, using the requirements for each job as a guideline. The annual review should include an Action Plan for the Associates improvement and a timetable for the improvement items to be met.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience within a supervisory role and at least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of TOPY and department policies, procedures and practices with the ability to answer work related questions and/or interpret and apply these guidelines correctly in various situations.
  • Experience enforcing policies supporting safety, quality, and customer specification.
  • Experience with IATF16949 and ISO 14001:2015.
  • Solid communication skills to assist with problem resolutions and to maintain strong interpersonal relations
  • Excellent problem solving, diagnostic, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with problem solving methodologies (i.e. 5 Why, PDCA, Problem Tree)
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral directions.
  • Ability to perform work independently.
  • Ability to complete various reports and documentation of departmental activities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products
  • Ability to work under high stress and deadline pressures.
  • Ability to contribute as a team member to accomplish the goals and objectives set forth
Supervisory Responsibility

This position oversees manufacturing operations of assigned area. This position can supervise up to 30 Associates.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full time, exempt position, and hours of work are on an 8 hr. shift. This position may also be required to work Monday-Friday 1 st , 2 nd , or 3 rd shift, eight hours a day to assist with shift coverage. Overtime may be required occasionally.
