Job SummaryThe Production Supervisor supervises the production lines to meet production needs and goals set forth by the company. The Production Supervisor coordinates the shutdown, start-up and changeover of production, and conducts daily shift meetings. This position works with the Human Resources Department to ensure that staffing needs are met and ensures that the work area is clean and safe. The Production Supervisor works to improve efficiency of the operations to increase productivity while maintaining quality standards. It is the Production Supervisor’s responsibility to ensure that the production process is carried out according to the goals set by the company's management and ensure the production-line workers are trained on their job duties.Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesCommunicates job expectations to direct reports and monitors and appraises job resultsTrains, plans, assigns and directs work for employeesCoaches, counsels, and disciplines employees and enforces systems, policies, and proceduresAddresses associate complaints and provides resolutions to problemsMaintains work flow by monitoring steps of the process, setting processing variables, observing control points and equipment, monitoring personnel and resources, studying methods, developing reporting procedures and systems, and facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control pointsCompletes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising schedules, resolving problems, and reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summariesMaintains quality processes by establishing and enforcing operations standardsEnsures operation of equipment by calling for repairs and evaluating new equipment and techniquesProvides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and dataMaintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources while maintaining compliance with established policies and proceduresResolves personnel problems by analyzing data, investigating issues, identifying solutions and recommending actionSuggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or personnelAnalyzes and resolves work problems, or assists personnel in solving work problemsInitiates or suggests plans to motivate personnel to achieve work goalsSupports 5S/COP activitiesCarries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable lawsFollows all rules and regulations regarding confidentialityContributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.Acts as Emergency First ResponderMaintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.Attend the following trainings annually: Sexual Harassment, Motor Vehicle Record, Performance Evaluation, Code of Ethics, Workplace Violence, Union Avoidance, and OSHA required trainingsRequired ExperienceHigh School Diploma or GED3 years of experience in production manufacturing environmentsKnowledge of production control operations, procedures and systemsLean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma Green Belt certification a plusExtensive knowledge of computer software (Microsoft Office and PLEX)Strong leadership and team-building skillsFluent in reading and writing in the English language
