Job description

Food manufacturer in the Hingham, WI area is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Production Supervisor to oversee and manage their food production operations during the night shift. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with a proven track record in the food manufacturing industry, possessing excellent knowledge of food safety standards, production processes, and team management. This role is critical in ensuring efficient production, maintaining quality standards, and fostering a safe and productive work environment. Will be rotating 12-hour shifts, 5p-5a.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Night Shift Production: Oversee all aspects of the food production process during the night shift, ensuring adherence to production schedules, quality standards, and safety regulations.
  • Team Leadership and Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of production employees. This includes assigning tasks, monitoring performance, providing feedback, and conducting performance evaluations in collaboration with HR.
  • Ensure Food Safety and Quality: Maintain strict compliance with all food safety policies, procedures, and regulations (e.g., GMPs, HACCP, SQF). Monitor product quality throughout the production process and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Optimize Production Efficiency: Monitor production output, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and meet production targets.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem Solving: Address and resolve any production issues, equipment malfunctions, or deviations from standard operating procedures in a timely and effective manner.
  • Equipment and Maintenance: Ensure the safe and efficient operation of all production equipment. Coordinate with the maintenance team for necessary repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Inventory and Materials Management: Monitor the use of raw materials and packaging supplies, ensuring accurate inventory levels and minimizing waste.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate production records, including batch records, quality checks, and shift reports. Communicate production status and any issues to the day shift supervisor and management.
  • Safety Compliance: Enforce all safety regulations and promote a safety-conscious culture within the team. Conduct safety training and participate in safety audits and investigations as required.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production processes, quality, and safety.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Foster effective communication within the night shift team and collaborate with other departments, including quality assurance, maintenance, and logistics, to ensure smooth operations.
  • Training and Onboarding: Train new production employees on procedures, equipment operation, and safety protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, including GMPs, HACCP, and other relevant standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team in a production environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret production schedules, batch records, and other technical documents.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Technical aptitude and understanding of food processing equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Flexibility to work the night shift schedule and potential overtime as needed.
