Job summary

Terex Environmental Solutions Group’s Heil plant in Fort Payne, AL is seeking a Manufacturing Team Leader to drive lean improvements, coach staff, manage performance, and ensure safe, efficient operations. You will own safety programs, 5S, audits, root-cause analysis, and production flow, while coordinating scheduling, training, and discipline.

This role requires flexibility for day or night shifts and weekend work, strong people skills, and the ability to read blueprints and understand complex

Responsibilities

  • Lead safety and safety-training program for department(s).
  • Drive safety and environmental compliance.
  • Investigate incidents and initiate root cause corrective actions.
  • Conduct 5S and safety audits and inspections.
  • Drive quality improvements at the department level.
  • Engage team members in collaborative problem solving.
  • Own product flow, WIP, and labor utilization and efficiency.
  • Manage inventory and parts.
  • Implement lean manufacturing improvements and own TIBs.
  • Provide technical support and real-time problem solving.
  • Enhance communication between team members, departments, and management.
  • Provide rewards and recognition.
  • Provide team member performance counseling.
  • Implement corrective action and discipline with management approval.
  • Approve time and attendance and ensure accurate tracking.
  • Participate in interviewing and selection.
  • Ensure proper training and documentation per requirements and best practices.
  • Maintain cleanliness and order; participate in 5S and Kaizen initiatives.
  • Participate in LEAN and continuous improvement activities to support SQDCME metrics.
  • Learn and participate in problem solving methods.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Help implement and drive process improvements, coach and manage team member performance, and ensure that manufacturing operations function effectively and efficiently. Uses a high degree of focus and commitment to plan, coordinate and direct the manufacturing operation in order to meet production goals in alignment with company goals. Because of the business growth of Heil and this plant/location we are looking for individuals that are flexible to work either day or night shifts and open to weekend work.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:


  • Lead and own the safety and safety-training program for department(s).

  • Drive safety and environmental compliance.

  • Investigate incidents and initiate root cause corrective actions.

  • Conduct 5S and safety audits and inspections.

  • Drive quality improvements at the department level.

  • Engage team members in collaborative problem solving.

  • Ownership and responsibility for: Product flow, WIP, and labor utilization and efficiency.

  • Inventory and parts management.

  • Implementing and sustaining lean manufacturing improvements, ownership of TIB’s.

  • Providing technical support, real-time problem solving, and new product support.

  • Communication: improved open door access and communication link between team members, departments, and management etc.

  • Provide reward and recognition.

  • Provide team member performance counseling.

  • Implement corrective action and discipline with management approval.

  • Approve time and attendance, ensuring accurate time and attendance tracking.

  • Participate in interviewing and selection.

  • Ensures new employees are properly trained and that the process is documented per company requirements and best practice.

  • Maintains cleanliness and order of work area, equipment and tools, and participates in 5S and Kaizen Initiatives.

  • Consistently participates in LEAN and other continuous improvement activities to support SQDCME metrics.

  • Learns and participates in problem solving methods to support objectives.

  • Performs other various duties as required.


JOB SPECIFICATIONS:


  • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred, or equivalent experience is required.

  • Must have previous Team Leader or Supervisory experience.

  • Must be flexible to work either day or night shifts and open to weekend work.

  • Must be able to acquire or learn the principles of LEAN, continuous improvement and problem solving skills as required.

  • Coach, mentor and provide leadership to all team members.

  • Supervisor must possess good people skills resulting in treating employees with respect while dealing with them in a firm, fair, consistent manner.

  • Must have good organizational skills and be a good delegator.

  • Must possess thorough understanding of complex machine tools; read and understand complex blueprints, specifications, electrical schematics and instructions, and operate welding machines.

  • Requires ability to read, comprehend and follow complicated verbal instructions, use planning skills to organize work processes and be able to communicate effectively with his/her team and internal/external customers.

  • Requires ability to follow verbal instructions and to communicate with outside sources and internal departments in person and via telephone.

  • Requires ability to read written instructions, correspondence and other documentation, observe machinery and drawings, as well as operate office equipment such as computers (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and printers.

  • Uses color and depth perception to check for product quality problems.

  • Requires capability of performing essential job functions in an established office environment under normal lighting and climate control tolerances, with some exposure to plant environments with the presence of dust, fumes, noise, and fluctuating temperatures due to lack of climate control.

  • Requires walking and standing approximately 80%, sitting approximately 20% and lifting up to 40 pounds approximately 5% of time; involves some repetitive overhead work 5% of time; involves repetitive stooping, and forward bending and crouching approximately 5% of time.

  • Requires the ability to engage in repetitive lifting; operation of general hand tools, computers, copy machine, other general office equipment, and to record written information.
