MISSION:
Supervise hourly employees in the safe manufacture of company products, ensuring all quality and productivity standards are met in a cost-effective manner. This position reports to either a Production Manager II or Area Manager. Incumbents may be required to work with hazardous waste.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Ensure adherence to process control procedures, operating instructions, and all quality control instructions. The primary responsibility is to safely produce a quality product with minimal scrap or rework, meeting customer specifications.
- Oversee the safe manufacture of products, promote safety in supervision, and maintain a safe work environment. Focus on accident prevention and enforce legal requirements and company safety policies.
- Plan, organize, and supervise shift operations according to production schedules and supervisor directives. Maintain awareness of policies and ensure compliance by employees.
- Achieve target earned hours and meet or exceed budget criteria.
- Develop and train employees, fostering departmental efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, cooperation, and morale.
- Ensure all employees work safely and are trained in safety procedures. Promote good housekeeping practices.
- Maintain adequate staffing levels to meet production schedules through effective attendance management.
- Work with employees to resolve grievances, provide performance feedback, conduct formal appraisals, and recommend pay increases, transfers, and promotions in compliance with laws.
- Interview and hire qualified candidates according to legal requirements.
- Ensure availability of necessary equipment and supplies to complete assigned tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma plus college-level courses or equivalent training in manufacturing, accounting, mathematics, and statistics. Additional training in motivation, problem-solving, and group behavior, or completion of PCC Certificate program. Bachelor's in Engineering and/or Business is preferred.
- Two to five years of experience in related production operations with strong team problem-solving and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Experience in process improvement and Lean Six Sigma highly preferred.
