The LYCRA Company in Waynesboro, VA is looking for a Shift Team Leader for the spinning area to supervise 15–30 employees on a 12-hour rotating shift, driving safety, productivity, reliability and quality improvements aligned with our Guiding Principles and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of spandex manufacturing experience OR 2+ years supervision experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Able and willing to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule including weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise 15–30 employees in the spinning area to meet production goals.
  • Lead safety, productivity, reliability and quality improvements.
  • Plan, assign, train, evaluate performance, and address employee performance.
  • Maintain work relationships with the union under the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Ensure adherence to ISO standards and conduct RCAs as part of quality initiatives.

Location: Waynesboro, VA, USA

As a shift team leader of the spinning area, you will be responsible for the direct supervision of approximately 15-30 employees in our production area, leading improvements in safety, productivity, reliability and quality. The expectation is to lead in a way that supports/enhances our Guiding Principles, fosters teamwork, and produces excellent results. Responsibilities will also include but are not limited to: planning, assigning, and directing work, training, evaluating employee performance, recognizing and addressing both individual and team performance. The candidate will work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, monitoring all spandex manufacturing operations using efficient and safe manufacturing processes.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Accomplish manufacturing results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, assign tasks and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures. Provide regular performance feedback to employees and conduct annual performance reviews.
  • Maintain work flow by monitoring personnel and resources including work assignments, vacations, and overtime; implement cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems. Initiate and foster a spirit of cooperation within and between areas.
  • Ensure productivity standards and goals are met by establishing priorities, monitoring results vs expectations, resolving problems, assigning personnel, and driving Continuous Improvement.
  • Maintain quality by establishing and enforcing organization standards. Operate within standard operating procedures, ISO standards, perform RCAs, and conduct Job Safety Analysis.
  • Own and actively drive the team’s safety performance and culture. Maintain safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all equipment and resources; maintain compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Maintain work relationship with the union by following the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Resolve problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions and recommending action. Manage employee daily activities to insure production efficiencies.

Qualifications (Preferred)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Management or related field
  • Previous experience managing a team with demonstrated ability to effectively lead and motivate a diverse group of employees.
  • Supervisory experience with direct reports in a manufacturing industry
  • Experience working in polymer, chemical or materials manufacturing
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Require the ability to communicate at multiple levels of organization.
