Job summary

Meyer Utility Structures is seeking a Production Supervisor for the Steele, AL plant to lead daily operations, ensure safety, quality, and productivity, and drive continuous improvement across welding and fabrication processes.

The role requires strong leadership, engineering knowledge, and hands-on oversight of fit-up and welding activities to meet production goals and budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (any discipline) preferred.
• 5+ years of leadership experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
• Experience in a metal fabrication or welding facility, flux and metal core welding highly preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of blueprints and layouts preferably related to transmission poles.
• High degree of dependability, maturity, and strong leadership characteristics.
• Regular and predictable attendance and ability to work well with a team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily production operations of heavy industrial products for the assigned work group.
• Set production schedules based on production introduction, equipment efficiency, and quality metrics.
• Coach employees on fit-up and welding processes, ensuring goals are met and issues are resolved.
• Ensure the production of quality products at or below budgeted production cost.
• Assist in continuous improvement activities to improve movement of materials through production processes.
• Manage hourly employees, monitor and approve time sheets and logs.
• Assign employees to workstations and ensure proper training.
• Manage all aspects of fit-up and welding processes for the group, ensuring policy adherence.

Description

Meyer Utility Structures is searching for a Production Supervisor for our Gadsden, AL plant. The production supervisor will oversee multiple activities simultaneously and take ownership of the output from employees working on the team. The supervisor is also responsible for exhibiting a strong working knowledge of all machinery, equipment, and processes. The Production Supervisor will manage their departments and work to achieve plant goals while maintaining a high safety, quality and productivity standard.

What You’ll Do:

• Ensure employees follow all safety procedures and protocols, serve on safety committees, and complete regular safety audits.

• Manage hourly employees, monitor and approve time sheets and work logs.
• Assign employees to workstations and ensure proper training is completed.
• Manage all aspects of fit up and welding processes for assigned work groups and production bays, ensuring that production policies and procedures are strictly adhered to by all employees.

What You’ll Need:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (any discipline) preferred.
• 5+ years of successful leadership experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
• Experience in a metal fabrication or welding facility, specifically with flux and metal core welding is highly preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of blueprints and layouts preferably related to transmission poles.
• High degree of dependability, maturity, and strong leadership characteristics as demonstrated through previous professional work experience.
• Regular and predictable attendance, a great attitude and an ability to work well with a team toward achieving a common goal.
