Job Title

Position Summary

Supervises hourly employees in a manufacturing environment, plans and assigns work, and implements policies and procedures. Improves working conditions (safety, quality, productivity, and cost) and increases subordinates’ skills and capabilities. Assists the Shift Superintendent in improving production, standard operating procedures, safety, quality control, employee relations, and performance management.

Responsibilities
  1. Performs daily walks and visual inspections of the production floor to observe unsafe acts or conditions; takes corrective action as needed.
  2. Maintains safety/environmental self-audits and visual checks; champions safety or ergonomic activities and helps meet safety goals.
  3. Ensures product quality and safety, and that staff understands food safety and quality plans.
  4. Trains employees on safe operating procedures, including lock-out/tag-out.
  5. Adheres to product specifications to maintain quality results.
  6. Maintains knowledge of products and equipment to direct employees properly.
  7. Ensures tasks comply with HACCP and USDA regulations, taking corrective actions when necessary.
  8. Conducts daily floor walks and monthly line meetings to address questions and concerns.
  9. Works to meet or exceed yield and efficiency goals.
  10. Collaborates with management to understand yields, variances, and improvement methods.
  11. Suggests workflow and equipment changes to increase efficiency and reduce downtime and costs.
  12. Analyzes key product measures for improvement opportunities.
  13. Observes safety procedures such as GMPs, MSDS, PPE, LOTO, and emergency protocols; reports unsafe conditions and incidents.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or related fields preferred.
  2. Minimum 2 years of supervisory/management experience.
  3. Food industry experience preferred.
  4. Bilingual skills are a plus.
  5. Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, delegation, leadership, management, quality management, judgment, planning, and safety skills.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

Work is performed in manufacturing (80%) and office (20%) environments, with noise levels usually loud to moderate. Must be able to stand, walk, handle objects, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, and lift at least 75 lbs. Standard 8-hour shifts, with longer hours as needed.
