Qualifications

  • Baccalaureate degree in mining, mechanical, electrical or civil engineering or commensurate education and experience.
  • Understand industrial manufacturing and solve process-related problems.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Good written and oral communication and general management skills.
  • Able to work with supervisors and other department managers.
  • Familiar with PCs and application software, including automatic process control.
  • Capable of integrating existing methods with new innovations to solve production problems.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate maintenance requests and ensure completion.
  • Generate production reports to determine rates, run times and downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
  • Work swing shifts as needed.
  • Perform duties of manager in their absence and attend daily staff meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

BASIC FUNCTION:

Effectively manage and direct the operations of the plant day to day production department. Responsible for high quality of finished products as well as high performance of production equipment.



RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Maintain safe working conditions and practices to achieve a zero (0) lost time injury record within the area of responsibility.

  • Perform work duties in accordance with QSHE Manual procedures.

  • Provide leadership and employee training to maintain high professional standards within the department.

  • Conducts performance appraisals for subordinates and provides fair and consistent disciplinary practices.

  • Report accurate payroll and related employee information to the Human Resources department.

  • Coordinate and schedule operating hours for production equipment and personnel activities to satisfy customer requirements.

  • Maintains proper inventory control of finished products.

  • Ensures that all production equipment is operating at optimum performance levels to achieve high quality, maximum productivity and low production costs.

  • Drives continuous improvement efforts within area of responsibility.

  • Communicate maintenance requests on equipment to maintenance department.

  • Follows up to ensure satisfactory completion.

  • Supervise implementation of procedures to ensure that all production inventory is correct with respect to product, quality and quantity.

  • Generate all production reports necessary to determine equipment production rates, run time and down time reports needed to evaluate equipment availability, to schedule preventive maintenance or repairs.

  • Ensure that process equipment is operated in compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations.

  • Ensure that inventory levels of consumable items used within the area of responsibility are kept at adequate levels.

  • Must be able to work swing shifts as needed to fill in for vacations and any unplanned production situations that arise without notice.

  • Perform the Duties of Manager in their absence in attending daily staff meeting.

  • Other duties as assigned



QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Baccalaureate degree in mining, mechanical, electrical or civil engineering or a commensurate level of education and experience, Basic knowledge of mineral grinding, crushing and packaging equipment.

  • Able to comprehend all aspects of industrial manufacturing and capable of solving process related problems.

  • Strong organizational and planning skills.

  • Good written and oral communication skills as well as general management skills.

  • Able to work effectively with supervisors, other department managers and subordinates.

  • Familiar with personal computers and application software, including automatic process control.

  • Capable of efficiently integrating existing methods with new innovations to economically solve production problems in a timely manner.



Salary Range: $90k- $100k annually
