Responsibilities
Job Summary: This position is responsible for providing leadership in manufacturing excellence, ensuring customer satisfaction and continuous improvement of responsible area performance measurements (quality, productivity, cycle time, delivery, and cash flow). It supervises and coordinates activities of team leaders and workers engaged in production and establishes departmental activities to meet objectives in line with plant goals and business metrics.
- Follow all Howmet safety regulations, work rules, and departmental-specific requirements.
- Record data manually or by computer as required and examine castings and products at various stages of processing for conformance to internal and external specifications.
- Observe machines and equipment for malfunction, order adjustments or repairs, and direct workers to resolve issues. Study production schedules and estimate worker‑hour requirements for job completion.
- Explain company policies to employees and ensure compliance with EHS responsibilities.
- Conduct employee training, practice incident prevention techniques, and facilitate communication between managers, EHS resources, and employees. Perform self‑inspections with verification of compliance.
- Explain specifications and job orders to workers, assign duties, and establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality. Suggest changes in working conditions and equipment use to increase efficiency of the shop, department, or work crew.
- Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving them. Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
- Maintain time and production records.
- Estimate, provide requisitions for, and inspect materials. Coordinate activities with other supervisors across departments.
- Establish project plans and coordinate activities for continuous improvement initiatives. Make recommendations for employee status, including hiring, terminations, and promotions.
- Resolve grievances and employee relations issues as they arise; complete performance evaluations; administer employee corrective action as required.
- Train and mentor team leaders for their individual development. Must comply with all company attendance policies and guidelines, including regular attendance and occasional overtime.
- Maintain measurement and metrics for departmental performance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Salary
Anticipated Pay Range: $80K‑90K per year. Pay rates within this range are determined based on experience, education, certifications, and other factors.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- High School diploma or G.E.D. is required.
- Minimum of one year of manufacturing leadership experience.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at hire. Visa sponsorship is not available.
- Position entails access to export‑controlled items; successful applicants must be able to lawfully obtain access.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three years of manufacturing experience in a leadership role.
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Business or Management preferred.
