Weekend Production Supervisor (3rd Shift)
Schedule:
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, 12-hour shifts (36 scheduled hours), 6:00pm-6:00am
Position Summary
The Weekend Production Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating production operations during the weekend 3rd shift in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This position oversees up to 5 Production Leads directly and approximately 50 production employees indirectly, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operations while meeting customer, quality, food safety, and production requirements.
The Production Supervisor is responsible for driving operational performance, employee engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement while maintaining compliance with company policies, GMPs, food safety programs, and regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Directly supervise and develop up to five Production Leads.
- Indirectly oversee up to 50 hourly production employees across assigned production areas.
- Establish clear expectations and hold team members accountable for safety, quality, attendance, productivity, and workplace behaviors.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and development opportunities to Leads and production employees.
- Conduct routine floor presence and employee engagement activities to ensure operational effectiveness.
- Assist with employee recognition, retention initiatives, and workforce development efforts.
- Support employee onboarding and training initiatives for new hires.
Production Operations
- Coordinate production activities to ensure customer orders are produced safely, efficiently, and accurately.
- Monitor production schedules and staffing levels to meet daily production targets.
- Drive attainment of key performance indicators including safety, quality, productivity, waste reduction, and labor utilization.
- Ensure proper line staffing and effective allocation of labor resources.
- Troubleshoot operational issues and partner with maintenance, quality, sanitation, and warehouse teams to minimize downtime.
- Communicate production performance, challenges, and priorities during shift turnover meetings.
Food Safety & Quality
- Ensure compliance with all GMP, HACCP, SQF, USDA, FDA, customer, and company food safety requirements.
- Promote a food safety culture by identifying and correcting deficiencies in real time.
- Verify adherence to quality standards, product specifications, and sanitation requirements.
- Participate in internal, customer, and regulatory audits as needed.
- Partner with Quality Assurance to investigate and resolve product quality concerns.
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct safety observations, inspections, and incident investigations.
- Address unsafe behaviors and conditions promptly.
- Participate in corrective action and root cause analysis activities following incidents.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, attendance expectations, and employee conduct standards.
Performance Management
- Partner with Human Resources regarding employee relations concerns, investigations, attendance management, and disciplinary actions.
- Ensure performance issues are addressed consistently and documented appropriately.
- Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance operational effectiveness.
- Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Utilize operational data to drive decision-making and improve department performance.Lead and participate in problem-solving activities to eliminate recurring issues.
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing, production, food processing, or related environment.
- Experience leading large teams in a fast-paced operational setting.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and production reporting systems.
Preferred
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, Food Science, Manufacturing, or related field.
- Food manufacturing experience.
- Experience with GMPs, HACCP, SQF, USDA, FDA, and food safety compliance programs.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during a 12-hour shift.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, noise levels, and food production equipment.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to climb stairs, bend, reach, and work throughout the production floor as needed.
