Production Supervisor 3rd Shift (8:00pm-4:00am) Job Phoenix, AZ
Primarily responsible for providing excellent support to the Plant Manager and delivering excellent customer service to all associates and visitors. The Production Supervisor will oversee supervisory management within the production areas, ensuring all tasks are completed on time, according to specifications, and in compliance with Federal, State, Local, or customer requirements, including OSHA, AIB, and all Café Valley Bakery standards.
Responsibilities
- Maintain consistent and dependable attendance.
- Stand/walk for at least 6 hours without breaks.
- Work weekends and flexible schedules as needed.
- Work with or around all types of food allergens.
- Work in confined spaces (spiral, oven area, freezer, etc.).
- Wear and utilize personal protective equipment.
- Plan daily resource allocation (equipment, personnel, materials, systems) to achieve performance targets safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively, in coordination with Production Management.
- Document daily production activities, review results against targets, and report variances during on-the-floor and review meetings.
- Review maintenance effectiveness, collaborate with Operations and Maintenance staff to identify improvements, and ensure timely maintenance and repairs.
- Manage supervisory activities including scheduling, performance evaluations, hiring, discipline, coaching, training, development, and termination recommendations.
- Utilize focused improvement tools to address root causes of failures and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Facilitate shift transitions, seamless handoffs, and effective communication with peers, team members, and Production Management.
- Ensure a safe work environment with proper instructions, practices, and procedures, and train employees accordingly. Apply corrective actions when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with quality and food safety programs, including GMPs, sanitation audits, HACCP, and product quality checks, actively participating in error prevention and correction.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend changes within your area of responsibility.
- Maintain working knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, lean manufacturing, and other food safety and quality principles.
- Communicate effectively in writing and verbally across all organizational levels.
- Motivate and mentor employees, identify development needs, and provide support.

Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and visual inspections.
- Work involves exerting up to 50 lbs occasionally and 20 lbs frequently.
- Work occurs in coolers, freezers, and warehouses with exposure to cold, freezing, and high heat temperatures.
- Noise levels may require shouting to communicate effectively.
Skills & Qualifications
- Degree with 5 years of food manufacturing experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3-5 years supervisory experience in manufacturing, preferably in bakery or related fields.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).
- Excellent communication, conflict management, decision-making, motivation, and organizational skills.
- Strong leadership and self-confidence.
- Basic mechanical skills.
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
