Job Title: Production Supervisor
Reports to: Production Manager
Operators and leads report to: Production Supervisor
Job dimensions
- Works with Planner/Scheduler to produce production plan that meets customer requirements and allocates plant resources.
- Direct supervision of production personnel including job assignments, training, discipline, attendance.
- Ensures process record accuracy before entry into SAP.
- Promotes plant safety improvement programs like 5S, BBS, etc.
- Supports Continuous Improvement through problem solving tools and Kaizen participation.
- Manages purchasing to meet budget, as authorized.
- Leads on-floor implementation of site initiatives.
Activities
- Practices and enforces safe work habits per OSHA, EPA, and Bostik standards.
- Ensures availability of materials for production.
- Adjusts workforce distribution to meet demand or cover absences.
- Conducts regular rounds to identify and correct issues.
- Participates in daily Walk Abouts and reports progress.
- Communicates mechanical issues to maintenance and schedules repairs.
- Leads daily continuous improvement efforts.
- Tracks KPIs and implements corrective actions.
- Uses problem solving tools like A3, B3, 5W/2H.
- Coaches and develops team members, participates in hiring.
- Ensures compliance with policies and 5S program.
- Audits production documents for accuracy.
Context and environment
- 15% shop floor work, 85% administrative duties.
Accountabilities
- Adherence to safety policies.
- Following process work instructions for quality.
- Completing daily production plans.
Qualifications / Experience
- 3+ years in manufacturing supervision or leadership.
- Associate degree or equivalent experience; degree in Business, Industrial Operations, Engineering preferred.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality standards, material planning.
- Lean, 6 Sigma, Theory of Constraints, 5S, OSHA training preferred.
- Strong communication skills, proficiency in MS Office, conflict resolution skills.
