Job summary

PL Developments, a leading manufacturer of OTC pharmaceutical products, seeks a Production Supervisor to oversee daily operations at our Piedmont facility. You will optimize production flow, ensure GMP compliance, and lead a team to meet quality and productivity targets.

The role requires 5+ years in manufacturing (pharma preferred) and 3+ years supervising, with strong communication and problem-solving. Schedule: Sunday–Thursday, 9:30pm–6:30am; travel minimal.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalency required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment preferred.
  • At least three years of experience as a supervisor.
  • Knowledge of FDA/OSHA regulations, GMPs and GDPs preferred.
  • Strong leadership and ability to raise the bar for quality and productivity.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coach supervisors and team leads to achieve production goals.
  • Plan material flow and coordinate with personnel to meet deadlines.
  • Monitor performance indicators and production schedules.
  • Ensure safety protocols and GMP compliance across the production area.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction with QA, mechanics, and IE.
  • Update and enforce SOPs and train team members on procedures.
  • Manage inventory to prevent shortages or overstock situations.

PL Developments, also known as PLD, is a leading manufacturer, packager, and distributor of over-the-counter (OTC) pharmaceutical products and consumer healthcare goods.

Summary

The Production Supervisor will supervise the day-to-day operations of a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility, ensuring efficient production processes, adherence to quality standards, and compliance with safety regulations. This role involves optimizing resources and collaborating with various departments to achieve operational goals. The role may require work outside scheduled hours to accommodate project deadlines and operational needs.

Work Schedule

Sunday - Thursday 9:30pm-6:30am (additional hours as needed)

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalency required, associate or bachelor's degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience of working in a manufacturing environment (Pharmaceutical exp. preferred)
  • At least three years of experience as a supervisor
  • Working knowledge of FDA and OSHA regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Good Documentation Practices (GDPs) preferred
  • Proven ability to effectively lead while constantly raising the bark for quality and productivity
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Computer skills utilizing MS office, word, and Excel
  • Must possess exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and problem-solving skills
  • Bilingual in Spanish, preferred
Position Responsibilities
  • Provides support by directing and coaching, supervisors and team leads to achieve division of objectives and production goals
  • Plan flow of materials through departments. Communicate properly and adequately to all personnel levels to ensure the production deadlines are met
  • Monitors keep performance indicators
  • Ensure that the production area adheres to schedules and carries out all necessary activities to ensure the timely availability of products for the production floor
  • Monitor and control production processes to achieve optimal output and minimize downtime
  • Ensure the efficient use of resources, including materials and labor
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction by partnering with Quality Assurance, Mechanics, and Industrial Engineers
  • Implement and enforce production schedules and quality standards
  • Provide instruction or coordinate training for team members on all relevant, updated Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstock situations.
  • Coordinate with supply chain and logistics teams to optimize material availability
  • Uphold safety protocols and regulations, promoting a safe working environment for all team members
  • Investigate and report safety incidents to EHS Specialist and Operations Management. Implement corrective actions
  • Maintain and enforce quality control / quality assurance procedures to ensure products meet required specifications
  • Responds quickly to all oral and written communication such accident reports, deviation reports. vacation and sick request, and absence reports
  • Create and investigate operational deviations and determine root cause/CAPA's with implementation strategies
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management
Physical Requirements
  • Required to stand for long periods of time in production environment and/or working at a desk on a computer for long periods of time
  • Capable of frequently lifting and carrying items weighing 25-45 lbs. in a production environment
  • Some exposure to hazardous chemicals and other active chemical raw materials or ingredients is possible
  • Must be able to wear proper gowning and PPE in production areas, as required, to meet GMP and/or OSHA requirements
