ZF Chassis Components, LLC in Lapeer, MI is seeking a Production Supervisor for the 3rd shift to lead production personnel, ensure safety, quality, and on-time delivery while meeting Operational Excellence standards.

You will allocate resources, drive continuous improvement, and coach the team in lean methods, problem solving, and adherence to standard work. This role supports Industry 4.0 initiatives and the ZF Way across the production unit.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree level knowledge or 4-5+ years experience in Operations/Manufacturing.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience.
  • Experience with Lean, 5S, Kaizen, Kanban, and production planning.
  • Transformation competence and organizational development skills.
  • Coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Assess skills across technical, process, and leadership domains.
  • Business/Finance management acumen.
  • Results-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

  • First contact for production or personnel issues.
  • Audit work instructions and standard work with engineering; drive adherence.
  • Support Industry 4.0 – Smart Factory (DMP, MES, etc.).
  • Perform according to the ZF Way.
  • Allocate resources to implement the production plan.
  • Drive continuous improvement and KPI attainment.
  • Facilitate Lean Kaizen per ZF Production System.
  • Drive SFM L2–n and problem solving with PU leader.

Job Description
About the team:

Plans shift labor, directs, and supervises production personnel. Evaluates and ensures production procedures are followed. Drives attainment of production schedules / goals, while ensuring safety and process / product quality is the first focus. The Production Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the production plan is attained while meeting or exceeding Operational Excellence Standards (Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost) and targets. Evaluation of production personnel, determination of their hireability, and development / training of them is an essential role.

What you can look forward to as a Production Supervisor:
  • 1st contact person for any production or personnel issues
  • Audit work instructions / standard work (LPA) and work with engineering to modify as needed, and drive adherence to them in the production team
  • Support industry 4.0 – Smart Factory (DMP, MES Suite, etc.)
  • Perform according to the ZFWAY
  • Allocate resources (man, machine and material) to implement to production plan
  • Drive continuous improvement and raise project ideas to achieve the KPI’s target of the production unit
  • Facilitate Lean Kaizen per ZF Production System as needed
  • Ability to drive SFM L2~n and operational performance to targets and support PU leader in SFM L2 including go-see and problem solving
Your profile as a Production Supervisor:
  • Bachelors degree level of knowledge or 4 - 5+ years solid working experience in Operations / Manufacturing environment
  • 2+ years leadership experience or in a leadership capacity
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing principles, 5S, Kaizen, Kanban, Production & Strategic Planning. (ie: ZFPS) and Continuous Improvement
  • Transformation competence and organizational development skills
  • Coaching and Mentoring Skills
  • Assess skills (incl. technical, process and leadership skills)
  • Business / Finance Management Acumen
  • Results-oriented

Shift hours are: 10:30 pm-6:30 am, Sunday night-Friday morning.
