Job summary

U.S. Tsubaki Automotive is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead union personnel across manufacturing and assembly of timing chain system components. You will direct daily activities, coach staff, and ensure safety, quality, and productivity targets are met.

You will manage material flow, implement improvement plans, monitor the department budget, and partner with EHS, Planning, Engineering and Quality to maintain high standards. This role requires flexibility to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required.
  • 3 to 7 years of supervisory experience or production leadership.
  • Ability to present information and respond to questions from employees at all levels.
  • Ability to communicate with all employees and handle difficult situations while adhering to policy.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and work instructions.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Excel, Word required.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Project Management and ISO procedures is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with ERP Systems.
  • Strong knowledge of EHS standards, Quality Control and Production processes.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Must be able to work 1st, 2nd or 3rd Shift, depending on operational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate daily activities of production staff to meet safety, quality, delivery, productivity goals.
  • Provide coaching and direction to employees.
  • Create and monitor efficient flow of material in the department.
  • Determine and implement continuous improvement plans for equipment and overall department.
  • Monitor yearly budget for the department and reduce costs related to production and MRO supplies.
  • Foster relationships with EHS, Planning, Engineering and Quality.
  • Establish and maintain communication through toolbox and employee meetings.
  • Coordinate activities with Group Leader and employees to ensure smooth operation.
  • Ensure department inventory accuracy.
  • Address grievances and disciplinary matters with HR to ensure fair treatment.
  • Make daily decisions on production schedules and personnel-related matters.

The TSUBAKI name is synonymous with excellence in quality, dependability, and customer service. U.S. Tsubaki Automotive, LLC is an international tier-one supplier of high-speed chain drive systems to the automotive industry.

The Production Supervisor directs and coordinates union personnel within the various departments involving the various stages of manufacturing and assembly of automotive parts, specifically timing chain system components.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Production Supervisors are responsible for directing, coordinating, training, coaching, and supervising the daily activities of assigned employees that are directly and/or indirectly engaged in the production process of assigned products/departments/processes in a manner that ensures all safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and labor utilization goals are achieved.
  • Provide clear expectations, coaching and direction to employees.
  • Create and monitor daily efficient flow of material through the department by utilization of manpower and equipment in the department.
  • Determine and implement continuous improvement plans for the equipment, and overall department.
  • Monitor yearly budget for the department ensure goals are met by reducing cost related to production and MRO supplies.
  • Foster working relationships with associated departments i.e. EHS, Planning, Engineering and Quality.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication vehicles such as toolbox meetings and employee meetings.
  • Understands, communicates, and follows all company policies, work rules, and Union Contract. Effectively utilizes this knowledge to:
  • Analyze and resolve work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Correctly maintains time and attendance records.
  • Confers with Group Leader(s) and employees to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Ensure department inventory is accurate.
  • Partner with Human Resources and management when addressing grievance and disciplinary matters to ensure fair and consistent treatment of all employees.
  • Make daily decisions on production schedules and personnel related matters that affect the delivery and quality.

It is the expectation of the company that Supervisors will accomplish these goals by working to a high ethical standard and consistently complies with all company policies, work rules, Union Contractual agreements, and applicable laws with little to no direct supervision.

Requirements
