Job summary

IFA North America in Summerville, SC is seeking a Production Supervisor for 2nd shift to lead a high-volume manufacturing team. You will plan production, coach staff, and drive Lean initiatives to meet safety, quality, cost and delivery goals.

Responsibilities include implementing 5S, visual management, and root-cause problem solving; ensuring compliance with IATF 16949 and ISO 14001; and maintaining accurate production records while supporting continuous improvement and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Supervisor in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiar with IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develops a production/manpower plan based on production forecasts and lean manufacturing practices (5S, poka-yoke, visual management, material flow).
  • Maintains production records and informs management of progress, developments, and issues; adjusts schedules/ processes to meet targets.
  • Ensures associates are trained and developed; conducts performance reviews and coaching per policy.

Job Summary:

Responsible for meeting departmental safety, quality, costs, and delivery goals. Objectives met through training, motivating and managing employees in a team oriented production environment where Lean Manufacturing Principles, 8D’s, and continuous improvement are the norm. Work involves a thorough understanding of plant operations, company policies, practices, and procedures and the ability to resolve conflicts/issues through collaborative team efforts.

Essential Functions
  • Develops a production/manpower plan by based on production forecasts. Develops and/or assists in the development and implementation of lean manufacturing practices such as: 5S, use of poka-yoke, visual management, material flow, etc. Support the development of associates to diagnoses equipment malfunctions to the root cause level and ensure corrective actions are completed to eliminate repetitive failures. Maintains time and production records and keeps management informed of progress, developments, and pending problems. Responds to customer concerns and assures production targets are met by making adjustments to the production schedule, equipment and or processes as appropriate.
  • Ensures training and development of associates leading to a highly motivated and successful team achieving business goals and objectives. Encourages associate involvement through participating in: Improvement activities, Kaizen events, suggestion system, and open communications. Responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to established safety practices as well as actively participating in safety committee meetings. Regularly educates all employees in safe work practices and insure that they understand their role in applying safe practices and maintaining housekeeping requirements.
  • Responsible for understanding company policies, practices and procedures and for developing employees by coaching, counseling, and disciplining in accordance with such policies, practices, and procedures. Responsible for writing timely, objective performance reviews and communicating results in one-on-one meetings in a timely fashion. Develop, implement, and participate in work improvement plans for employees as appropriate in accordance with established company practices and procedures.
  • Consistently works on continuous improvement processes to include recommending measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product while operating within assigned budget. Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency and quality of facility, equipment, processes, or worker performance standards.
  • Contribute to the team effort by working in a collaborative manner to perform special projects and assignment that support the company’s overall goals and business objectives. Interface with customers, engineers, and management to support the company’s goals and objectives. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks etc.
  • All employees are responsible for having an awareness and understanding of Rotorion North America’s commitment to ISO 140001.
  • Supervisors are responsible for conducting operation specific training, including relevant environmental and safety information.
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Supervisor in a manufacturing environment
Specific Skills
  • Must be familiar with IATF 16949 and/or ISO14001 requirements
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office computer software applications
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization both oral and written
  • Strong analytical and problem solving ability
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to train motivate and lead employees
  • Must be able to work any shifts and/or flexible hours
  • High level of energy and enthusiasm
  • Strong desire to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Proven Supervision capabilities
  • Experience with high volume automotive supply requirements
  • Familiar with Tier I and/or Tier II automotive supplier specifications
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to walk/move about a 500,000 sq ft manufacturing facility: 100% of the time
  • Must be able to stand/walk/move about specific work area: 90% of the time
  • Must be able to bend/reach/twist/stoop: 70% of the time
  • Must be able to lift up to 40lbs on a frequent basis: 40% of the time
  • Must be able to lift over 40lbs on an infrequent basis: 15% of the time
  • Must be able to sit at a work station: 0% of the time
  • Must be able to work and operate a computer terminal: 80% of the time
  • Vision is required to analyze and process work; and to work on computer terminal/machine centers, etc.
  • Hearing is essential for safety reasons; and to communicate with employees, supervisors, managers, vendors, suppliers and customers via conversation, group meetings, and/or phone conferences
  • Must be able to wear a painting suit and/or respirator
  • Must be able to work with paints/solvents/cleaners
  • Must be able to work any shift as required including overtime as needed
