Job Summary:

The Production Supervisor provides hands-on leadership for the manufacturing location, partnering with site management to set goals while owning daily operations, including process adherence, maintenance, quality, and EHS to drive safety, efficiency, and product excellence in the production of high-mix/low-volume, complex medical electromechanical assembly systems. This role plays a key part in fostering a Continuous Improvement/Lean culture to resolve bottlenecks and improve throughput, while holding the team accountable to defined performance goals. This position is responsible for overseeing metal fabrication and assembly processes; including laser cutting, insertion, brake press, paint, and electromechanical assembly—within a regulated, fast-paced, rapidly changing, multi-shift operation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate daily production activities in metal fabrication, powder coating, and electro‑mechanical assembly to ensure on‑time delivery to internal and external customers.
  • Direct daily shift operations, assigning and adjusting work priorities and addressing bottlenecks to meet production targets; ensure smooth shift‑to‑shift handoff and continuity of quality operations.
  • Review prior‑day production output, process compliance, implement corrections, and troubleshoot equipment/process issues.
  • Supervise hourly personnel, including scheduling, hiring, onboarding, timecard review and approval, performance evaluations, discipline, and termination decisions; provide ongoing training and feedback to value stream leads and production personnel on process adherence, maintenance, quality, regulatory compliance, and EHS to drive safety and production efficiency.
  • Promote an accountable, performance‑driven, continuous‑improvement culture by engaging, coaching, and leading by example.
  • Facilitate Leader Standard Work through regular floor presence, reporting, KPI reviews, audits, and Gemba walks; maintain visual management systems, KPI boards, and escalation processes.
  • Assist in managing inventory compliance, including proper labeling and accurate tracking and transfer of material movement.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities to eliminate recurring issues, reduce costs, and drive sustainable improvements.
  • Maintain proactive communication with Customer Service, Scheduling, Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, and other value streams to ensure as to quality awareness and alignment on operational objectives.

Education, Experience and/or Training:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of supervisory experience, in a high‑mix/low‑volume volume environment, preferably in metal fabrication, powder coating, or assembly, within a medical device or regulated manufacturing environment.
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Proven hands‑on leader with the ability to drive accountability and work effectively in a team‑oriented environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem‑solving, conflict‑resolution, and decision‑making abilities in a variety of shop floor situations, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret product routings, manuals, blueprints, and technical documentation.
  • Demonstrate competence in performing transactions within ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Lean manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or Six Sigma training or experience is a plus.

Experience and/or Training:

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Monday–Friday, approximately 2:00 PM–11:30 PM, with willingness to work a varied schedule, including additional hours, and weekends as required.
  • Continuous: standing, seeing, hearing, communicating, repetitive dexterous hand movements, use of hand tools.
  • Frequently required to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods across office, manufacturing, or warehouse environments.
  • Frequently required to bend, reach, and climb stairs; use hand tools and equipment; and perform light lifting to 40 lbs., as applicable to the role.
  • Visual acuity to review data, analyze reports, and observe operational processes, with color perception required.
  • Self‑motivated and adaptable, with technical abilities and a strong sense of urgency and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Resourceful with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with shifting priorities.
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to receive and provide instructions in a positive manner.
