Job Title: Production Supervisor - 2nd Shift

Location: Forest Park, IL

Job Summary

To direct, train, educate, motivate, and evaluate operators as well as to schedule, plan, assign, organize and monitor all operations/processes within the assigned department with the goal of maintaining and continual improvement of the Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety Management Systems.

Responsibilities
  • Consistently carry out the policies of the Company.
  • Understands and practices all directives of the Duraco Environmental, Health and Safety Management Systems.
  • Appropriately document knowledge of and/or participation in all systems, procedures, projects, investigations, rules of thumb, corrective actions, preventive actions, STEP, QAN, AQP, EQD’s, IQD’s and SQD’s. Reference item documented to concerned parties via email and/or weekly meetings.
  • Maintain communication links with all departments and company personnel in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Participate in all Supervisor and general Safety meetings.
  • Perform Toolbox Talks with all operators in your assigned department and document training completion in the spreadsheet.
  • Participate in and/or respond to AQP team investigations.
  • Practice continuous improvement strategies while continually monitoring production activities (rates & yields) and support services to increase productivity and product quality while reducing waste.
  • Perform production overviews as needed or when directed to ensure equipment is setup properly and the correct product is produced to customer specifications.
  • Coordinate raw material flow and inventories to ensure materials required are available for use.
  • Review the daily cycle count results and the accuracy of material movements/allocations. Determine and initiate investigations if discrepancies are discovered.
  • Forecast job requirements to maximize efficiencies of personnel and equipment.
  • Maintain production schedules and/or job cards in coordination with the Production Scheduler.
  • Assist in the coordination of and participate in projects.
  • Determine, initiate and respond to Quality and EHS deficiencies/non-conformances with completion of all corrective and preventive actions in a timely manner.
  • Maintain production equipment by documenting preventive maintenance items, generating work orders, recommending machine modifications, and providing information for equipment improvement.
  • Print and complete the weekly Preventative Maintenance report with the goal of 98% or greater completion rate by operators and supervisors.
  • Participate in the Emergency Response Team.
  • Monitor equipment and personnel for unsafe conditions / acts and respond with appropriate documentation and/or priority work requests.
  • Ensure the department is clean with aisles open and fire extinguishers accessible.
  • Ensure the Safety Checklist is performed by operators of the Department on a weekly basis, with STEP’s entered for all non-conformities.
  • Ensure operators are participating in the following: STEP Program, Weekly Departmental EHS Inspection (DI.23.8), 12 Foot Safety Circle, Recycling, Trash, and Daily (End of shift/job) Cleanup.
  • Ensure Operators are performing PM’s in a timely manner.
  • Evaluate and request tools required for the effective operation of the department.
  • Maintain inventories on departmental supplies.
  • Open/close the factory as needed.
  • Plan, organize, direct, and verify training requirements for operators.
  • Administer disciplinary notices in conjunction with the Environmental, Health/Safety, Quality, Assurance, and Production Managers.
  • Conduct all work activity to ISO 9001 standards and procedures.
  • Solicit and provide ideas for the elimination of waste, continuous improvement and defect prevention.
  • Work overtime as required.
Qualifications
  • Understand thoroughly all production processes including the capability of the tools, equipment and machinery utilized in its support.
  • Read & understand the Employee Handbook for employees not subject to collective bargaining.
  • Read & understand the Employee Handbook and the Rules of Conduct for plant employees subject to collective bargaining.Read & understand the Labor Contract and Working Agreement for the plant employees.
  • Understand thoroughly the job responsibilities required for operator A, B and set-up person positions through use of training checklists.
  • Understand, communicate and train the procedures outlined in the Duraco Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety, Systems.
  • Understand thoroughly the materials, their characteristics and how they are used in the process.
  • Read, understand and apply all related SOP’s that support the position.
  • Be proficient in the use of Duraco systems and have basic skills in the use of Microsoft Office XP and 2007
  • Preferred experience: 2 – 4 years of leadership experience in manufacturing
  • Complete and understand the following training courses:
    • Onboarding Training
    • Blood borne pathogens
    • Emergency evacuation / Fire prevention plan
    • Lockout / Tag Out
    • Hazcom
    • ISO 9001 training
    • SPC
    • Forklift Operation
    • First Aid / CPR/AED
Travel
  • Less than 10% domestic travel required
