Job summary

Ventura Foods is seeking a Production Supervisor to oversee plant floor workflow on the 2nd shift, onsite in Waukesha, WI. The role emphasizes meeting production goals, quality, safety, and people leadership, with coaching of employees and timely issue resolution.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years as a frontline supervisor in manufacturing, with GMP/HACCP/sanitation knowledge and strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills to drive continuous improvement and cross-functional

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of frontline supervision in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in food manufacturing; knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and sanitation practices.

  • Ability to drive safety, quality, and cost objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee direct reports with direction setting, accountability, coaching, feedback, performance reviews and development.
  • Monitor production processes on the floor and escalate issues per criteria.
  • Plan, organize, and delegate work to meet schedules and optimize manpower and equipment for OEE.
  • Complete administrative tasks like interviewing candidates, scheduling, safety reporting, and system entries.
  • Ensure product specifications are met and address quality issues through training and standards.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement projects within the area.
  • Attend meetings and provide detailed shift handover information.

Position Summary:

The production supervisor's responsibility is to oversee the workflow at our facilities. Supervisors should have a focus on meeting production goals, quality, safety, people leadership, engagement, and cost objectives. The role is a complex one—more than simply overseeing the work of others . A supervisor is also responsible for the coaching and development of employees, resolving issues and escalating as needed, and guiding our team to be successful every shift. The Supervisor serves as the link between the area team and upper management relaying information and engaging with the overall success of the plant.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for performance management of direct reports including - direction setting, accountability, coaching, feedback, performance reviews, development, training, etc.
  • Responsible for monitoring the production process utilizing RedZone and by being on the floor engaging with the area team. Escalating any production issues per the escalation criteria and communicating within a timely manner.
  • Plan, organize, and delegate work assignments to accommodate departmental schedules and to best utilize manpower and equipment and thereby meeting OEE efficiencies and striving for continual improvement within department.
  • Ensures administrative tasks are completed including interviewing new potential team members, planning & scheduling, safety reporting, kronos, and other system entries.
  • Ensure product specifications are met and alerting production manager and quality assurance if product quality is in question immediately. Resolve quality issues through training of personnel and enforcement of standards.
  • Leading & Participation in continuous improvement projects within supervised area.
  • Attending specified meetings and providing detailed shift handover information.
Education and Experience:
  • A minimum of 3-5 years as front line supervisor in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience in food manufacturing facilities and knowledge of GMP's, HACCP, and sanitation practices is helpful.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Must possess knowledge of the manufacturing environment.
  • Skill set of strong leadership capability and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate cross functionally and upwards.
  • Skill set must include strong analytical ability, observation, and coaching skills.
  • Ability to motivate, lead, and engage employees.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and strong work ethic.
