Position Summary

The Production Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day execution of the Color Culture production floor, ensuring orders move efficiently from production release through decoration, quality control, and fulfillment.

This is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for production scheduling, staffing, workflow, equipment utilization, quality, productivity, maintenance coordination, inventory readiness, and on‑time completion.

The Production Supervisor is expected to understand the floor in real time: what needs to ship, what is currently running, where production is behind, what is causing the constraint, and what needs to happen to recover.

The ideal candidate combines strong production leadership with technical knowledge of apparel decoration. This person should be comfortable managing a high‑volume environment, coaching operators, troubleshooting production and quality issues, using data to make decisions, and continuously improving throughput while reducing downtime, reprints, and waste.

Key Responsibilities

Production Floor Leadership

• Own daily execution of production across DTG, DTF, heat press, QC, and fulfillment .
• Review the production queue daily and prioritize work based on ship dates, customer commitments, and service-level requirements.
• Create daily staffing and workstation assignments based on production demand.
• Balance labor and workload across available equipment and departments.
• Monitor production throughout the shift and adjust staffing or priorities when bottlenecks develop.
• Ensure rush, priority, and time‑sensitive orders are completed on schedule.
• Maintain clear visibility into work in progress, outstanding orders, and production risks.
• Escalate issues that may impact customer delivery before deadlines are missed.
• Conduct daily production/shift meetings to communicate priorities, targets, issues, and expectations.

DTG & Digital Print Operations

• Supervise operation of industrial DTG printing and related equipment.
• Monitor printer utilization, throughput, ink consumption, downtime, and production performance.
• Ensure proper pretreatment, curing, print placement, and production standards are followed.
• Ensure daily startup, shutdown, cleaning, and preventive maintenance procedures are completed and documented.
• Troubleshoot print-quality and workflow issues and elevate technical or equipment problems when necessary.
• Work to maximize equipment uptime and productive capacity.

DTF & Heat Press Operations

• Oversee DTF and heat‑press production.
• Ensure correct transfer placement, temperature, pressure, and dwell‑time standards are consistently followed.
• Coordinate transfer availability with production schedules.
• Optimize gang‑sheet utilization where applicable and minimize transfer and material waste.
• Monitor press productivity and identify opportunities to improve throughput.

Quality Control

• Establish and maintain production quality standards across all decoration methods.
• Conduct first‑piece approvals when required.
• Perform routine production and QC audits.
• Monitor print placement, color, registration, garment condition, finishing, packaging, and overall workmanship.
• Track defects, reprints, and production errors.
• Identify root causes of recurring quality issues and implement corrective action.
• Ensure finished products meet Color Culture and customer standards before fulfillment.

Fulfillment & Order Completion

• Oversee the flow of completed goods through QC, packing, and fulfillment.
• Ensure orders are accurately picked, packed, labeled, and completed according to customer requirements.
• Monitor orders approaching their required ship dates and resolve production or fulfillment blockers.
• Partner with operations and account teams when specifications, inventory, or customer requirements need clarification.

Team Leadership & Development

• Lead, train, coach, and develop production team members.
• Set clear expectations for productivity, quality, attendance, safety, and workplace conduct.
• Monitor individual and team performance against established standards.
• Provide real‑time coaching and performance feedback.
• Cross‑train employees across DTG, DTF, heat press, QC, and fulfillment to create greater production flexibility.
• Identify training gaps and develop employees to operate independently and effectively.
• Address attendance, performance, safety, and productivity issues promptly and consistently.
• Build a production culture centered around accountability, urgency, teamwork, quality, and continuous improvement .

Production Planning & Cross‑Functional Coordination

• Coordinate with Operations, Account Management, Design, and other internal teams to confirm production specifications and priorities.
• Identify capacity constraints before they impact delivery.
• Provide accurate production updates and communicate potential delays or risks.
• Support production planning for large programs, launches, bulk orders, and high‑volume periods.
• Ensure production instructions and specifications are clearly communicated to operators before work begins.

Inventory & Materials

• Monitor production‑critical materials, including:
• DTG inks
• Pretreatment
• DTF transfers and supplies
• Packaging materials
• Production consumables
• Communicate shortages before they impact production.
• Support cycle counts and inventory accuracy.
• Ensure materials are staged and available for scheduled production.
• Identify opportunities to reduce material consumption, spoilage, and waste.

Equipment, Safety & 5S

• Maintain a clean, organized, and production‑ready facility.
• Ensure equipment is operated correctly and safely.
• Enforce workplace safety procedures and production standards.
• Conduct routine floor inspections.
• Ensure preventive maintenance schedules and cleaning procedures are followed.
• Maintain 5S standards across production and fulfillment areas.
• Immediately address unsafe conditions, equipment concerns, or workplace hazards.

Continuous Improvement & Performance Management

• Track and review key production metrics, including:
• Units produced
• Units per labor hour
• On‑time completion
• Equipment utilization
• Downtime
• Reprint/defect rate
• Material waste
• Labor productivity
• Use production data to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for improvement.
• Implement process changes that improve throughput, quality, labor efficiency, and capacity.
• Support sustainable production practices through better material utilization, waste reduction, and process discipline.
• Develop standardized processes and workflows that allow Color Culture to scale efficiently.

Qualifications

Required

• 3+ years of experience in apparel decoration, digital printing, screen printing, garment manufacturing, or a related production environment.
• Experience operating or supervising DTG, DTF, screen printing, and/or other apparel‑decoration production .
• Previous experience leading production employees or production teams.
• Strong understanding of production scheduling, workflow, capacity, and resource allocation.
• Ability to troubleshoot production and quality issues.
• Strong leadership, coaching, and performance‑management skills.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven production environment.
• Comfortable using production software, computer systems, and production tracking tools.
• Ability to interpret production metrics and take corrective action.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred

• Experience with industrial DTG equipment, particularly Kornit Atlas or Atlas MAX/HD platforms .
• Experience managing a print‑on‑demand or direct‑to‑consumer production environment .
• Experience with DTF, heat press, embroidery, and/or screen printing.
• Experience with production‑management or workflow‑management systems.
• Experience with Shopify or e‑commerce fulfillment workflows.
• Experience with automated production environments.
• Technical or vocational training in production, manufacturing, printing, or operations.
