Job summary

Gotham Greens is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead daily operations in our greenhouse and packhouse, reporting to the Assistant Plant Manager. You will supervise hourly Production Assistants, plan staffing, and manage the production schedule to meet targets safely and on time.

You will monitor KPIs, uphold GMPs and food safety, coordinate with Human Resources on performance, and drive continuous improvement across packing and greenhouse systems to enhance quality and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in fast-paced CPG manufacturing, fresh foods or greenhouse environments.
  • 1 year of leadership supervisory experience for non-exempt workforce.
  • Food safety, HACCP, PCQI, OSHA, Lean, Six Sigma or similar training preferred.
  • Experience with ERP and inventory control.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily production areas (greenhouse and packhouse) and manage the day-to-day schedule and labor.
  • Hold daily team meetings to set the plan for the day’s production.
  • Monitor production and adjust to meet target goals and KPIs.
  • Ensure food safety and GMP compliance across shifts.
  • Oversee hiring, performance management, and timecard accuracy.
  • Coordinate inventory and ERP-based counts with internal teams.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and address hazards promptly.

THE ROLEThe Production Supervisor reports to the Assistant Plant Manager or designated site Operations leader and provides hands-on leadership for the day-to-day operation of production areas. This position supervises hourly Production Assistants in the greenhouse and packhouse and is accountable for safe, timely, and efficient production. The Production Supervisor coordinates labor, materials, equipment, food safety, quality, sanitation, and cross-functional support to achieve the site production plan.WHAT YOU’LL DOProduction Planning and Daily ExecutionLead assigned production areas (greenhouse and packhouse) and manage the day-to-day production schedule and labor.Hold daily team meetings to set the plan for the day’s productionResponsible for pacing and timing of production work, setting up and breaking down of production at the start and end of shift, and manage to the production schedule.Monitor production throughout the shift and make adjustments as needed to meet target goals.Focus on continuous improvement of packing methods & efficiency of greenhouse systemsUse KPIs to measure and improve production efficiency and share KPIs in production meetingsAssist in daily production tasks as needed or assignedTeam Leadership and Labor ManagementSupervise and oversee the full shift of production and provide hands-on leadership across all assigned production areas, including hiring, performance management, and corrective actions.Own and plan staffing to meet production demand and meet business objectivesReview and approve timecards weekly and promptly resolve or escalate all time discrepanciesSet expectations with team members and drive accountability amongst employees under the Company’s policies.Provide employee training, coaching and mentoring to team members for growth, development, and a workplace for continued learning and improvement.Maintain training and cross-training records and develop flexible team coverage for optimal labor usePartner with Human Resources to address employee performance concernsLead with a professional and positive “can do” mind set to drive engagement and daily motivationMaintain high standards for quality; Encourage reporting amongst team members, and report all quality issuesFood Safety and Regulatory ComplianceFollow the facility GMPs.Execute daily processes that enforce food safety protocols and maintain compliance.Support the efforts of the Company to maintain our food safety and quality control programs.Daily oversight of adherence to food safety program by all team membersConduct required checks and complete required logs and records accurately and on-timeResponsible for ongoing involvement in key programs and verifying that critical operations (such cleaning, allergen handling, HACCP, etc) are always managed by qualified, trained personnel.Ensure cleanliness in all production areas and take a “proud operator” approachMonitor cooler, production, and storage conditions and promptly escalate any food-safety issues.Partner with FSQA to complete inspections, audits, investigations, corrective actions, and employee retrainingInventory ManagementMonitor, request, receive, organize, and control inventory supplies at set levels to be ready for productionTimely complete all production and inventory counts accurately in the ERP system, logs and records.Coordinate replenishment with internal departments proactively and with clear communicationEnsure packaging and labels are stored, issued, verified, reconciled, and returned or destroyed according to applicable control and traceability requirements.Conduct or support cycle counts and inventory investigations, and escalate count discrepanciesEquipment Readiness and Safe OperationsMaintain a safe work environment, address hazards promptly, report incidents and near misses, and participate in investigations and corrective actions.Perform any other duties as directed.WHO YOU AREMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSAt least 3 years of experience in a fast-paced CPG manufacturing environment, fresh foods and/or greenhouse, agriculture, farming operations experience a plus1 year of leadership supervisory experience of non-exempt workforceFood safety, HACCP, PCQI, OSHA, Lean, Six Sigma, or similar operations or compliance training are preferred.Demonstrated experience with ERP and inventory controlHigh standards for food safety and quality controlLeads by example to build team morale and engagementExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsStrong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, SharePoint, Sage, HRIS time management systemsAbility to work in production environments and in hot/cold temperaturesUse required personal protective equipment and set model exampleGreat multitasking abilities and ability to work in a fast-paced environmentA strong desire to learn and growAttentive, organized and an eye for detailAbility to stand and walk for extended periods and frequently bend, reach, push, pull, and lift or move up to 50 pounds.Availability to work assigned shifts and provide weekend, holiday, off-shift, and emergency coverage when business needs require.Valid authorization to work in the United States.Spanish bilingual a plusWHO WE AREGotham Greens is on a mission to transform how and where fresh produce is grown.
