We are seeking a dedicated, dynamic, and qualified Production Supervisor to help manage and lead our small, growing team of operators to perform production activities that require assembling electronic components and understand the production process and the quality goals of the company to help achieve total customer satisfaction. You will be responsible for the daily coordination of team performance to ensure that daily schedules are on time with zero quality and safety incidents. In addition to the oversight of the team, you are also required to personally work on project tasks as a functioning team member, when possible, though not at the expense of performing leadership responsibilities. You need to be able to perform all functions of the project so you can train and work with each member to improve the team’s performance and efficiency.
The Production Supervisor is the main interface with the assemblers on the production floor as well as management. This person provides the minute-by-minute and hour-by-hour direction to the hourly work force in the department and will multitask by splitting time between taking a hands-on approach with in-depth knowledge and experience to build work orders while also overseeing day-to-day operations with respect to product quality and on-time delivery.
Requirements
- Comply with all standard assembly procedures including but not limited to; first piece inspections, mid-process inspections, work in progress documentation, to ensure quality of product.
- Manage, support, and communicate scrap reduction techniques to operators.
- Demonstrate ability to inspect and identify non-compliant products and processes.
- Support quality department on improvement of quality through analyzing non-conformance and performing root cause analysis of discrepancies.
- Work in conjunction with planner and engineering to plan out and prioritize jobs to meet scheduled demand as well as ensuring products meet quality standards and customer expectations.
- Attend daily production meeting to provide updates to work order status.
- Work with engineering to identify any issues/concerns with customer drawings, build of materials, or traveler documents.
- Verify equipment/tools are available or need to be purchased in advance of scheduled work order.
- Communicate and respond to safety violations, employee safety concerns and/or identified safety hazards to management.
Manufacturing Management
- Drive the overall performance of the team to ensure that production activities occur within documented labor time.
- Ensure that the attainment to plan is monitored and that production accurately produces the volumes detailed on production schedule.
- Oversee the team’s safety and quality to ensure job standards are met and safety procedures are followed
- Promote processes and standards within the assigned area
- Ensure raw materials are available at the required time and meet quality standards and conform to product specifications.
- Ensure that equipment is set up safely/correctly/to standard, not ill-used, causing danger of breakdown or damage, is maintained in a clean/good condition, and rectified in a timely fashion
- Basic hand tool skills, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), drilling and tapping of metal, using correct fixings, measuring, stripping, crimping, and cutting.
- Read controls and electrical manufacturing drawings to a competent level.
- Have a good understanding of industry manufacturing procedures.
- Understand cable sizing, using correct ferrule and crimp sizes.
- Have basic knowledge of the difference between power and control wiring.
- Be able to read customer drawings and understand the cable color coding.
- Can liaise between the manufacturing engineer and other project team members regarding manufacturing and drawing standards and procedures.
- Have basic knowledge of field cabling and securing cables, conduit, cable-tray and trunking.
- Install & mount field devices, terminating cables to instrumentation, marshaling cabinets and junction boxes.
- Can assemble, wire and loom to Greatlink standard.
Labor Management
- Ensure that employees are adequately trained and sufficiently flexible to maintain continuity of production.
- Oversee the day-to-day management of employees in all areas and assist with troubleshooting
- Monitor attendance of employees and refer unsatisfactory attendance or timekeeping to the Operations Manager.
- Monitor and provide line support and deal with any issues as and when they occur
- Ensure time spent on productive work is maximized
- Motivate, develop and encourage team members to maximize productive work while keeping production team well informed.
- Provide coaching to production employees as needed.
- Serve as a point of contact for employees in training or new to the task
- Assist with completion of evaluations for production team, ensuring clear feedback and goals are set.
Education / Experience
- Five or more years of direct hands-on cable/wire harness assembly experience
- Two or more years of management/supervisory experience
- High school degree or equivalent
- IPC/WHMA 620 Certified a plus
- Good people skills and the patience to develop the next wave of production leaders.
- Strong attention to detail, highly organized, effective problem solving and time management skills
- Good manual dexterity, able to set up and operate machinery, and utilize various equipment/tools.
- Must be able to communicate in English.
- Reading /understanding drawings, schematics, and blueprints: 1 year (Required)
- Operating machinery and utilizing various equipment/tools: 1 year (Required)
