Job summary

Default Brand in the United States is seeking a supervisory leader for the Cold End area. You will oversee packing, shipping, and warehouse activities, drive continuous improvement, and promote a safe workplace while coordinating with the Shift Manager on safety and productivity goals.

The role requires 2+ years supervision experience, strong coaching and communication skills, and a technical degree. Expect hands-on leadership, 5S, and cost control responsibilities across shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the team to meet plant targets and objectives, promoting continuous improvement.
  • Provide a safe and healthy working environment by implementing improvement programs.
  • Supervise Cold End functions across packing, trucking, shipping, warehouse, stocking, and off-line processes.
  • Achieve effective and efficient use of resources.
  • Train crew members and identify training opportunities; provide feedback to area team leaders.
  • Monitor costs, quality, and service; identify areas for waste elimination.
  • Ensure communications flow effectively within the team and with the Shift Manager on safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Coordinate manning, scheduling, maintenance issues, and shift handoffs with the Shift Manager.
  • Ensure 5S and housekeeping responsibilities in each area of the Cold End.
  • Monitor equipment and processes to protect assets; provide maintenance issue reports to the 1st operator.

Job description


  • To actively lead the team to ensure that Plant targets & Objectives are met in all aspects of its business, while promoting & monitoring the process of continuous improvement.

  • To provide, as practicably as possible, a safe & healthy working environment implementing improvement programs in order to eliminate any work-related injuries.

  • Supervises & coordinates all "Cold End" functions in the packing, trucking, shipping, warehouse, stocking, and off-line processes for shift operation of float glass manufacture with direction from the Shift Manager as needed.

  • To achieve effective & efficient use of resources.

  • Help train and identify training opportunities for all crew members and provide feedback to area team leaders on operator training gaps.

  • To monitor & evaluate costs, quality, and service, identifying areas for improvement to eliminate waste. This will normally be achieved through: - The use of problem-solving techniques - The evaluation of team results compared to budget & objectives - The ongoing monitoring of team performance.

  • To ensure, through a cascade method, that communications operate effectively both within the team and where there is impact elsewhere within the organization. Communicate with the Shift Manager regarding safety, quality, and productivity issues. Communicate with the area team leaders on any necessary changes to SOPs.

  • To work with the Shift Manager and HE supervisor both prior to the start of the shift, during the shift, and at the end of the shift to determine manning requirements, scheduling concerns, maintenance issues, process status, as documented on shift report and be aware of any special quality specifications as well as complete the shift report and complete a proper shift hand off.

  • Ensure 5S and housekeeping responsibilities are fulfilled for each area in the Cold End.

  • To monitor all equipment and processes to ensure protection of the assets.

  • Provide support to the Shift Manager and HE supervisor as needed.

  • Communicate maintenance issues to the 1st operator
