Job summary

National Cement Company of Alabama, Inc. is looking for a Production Supervisor to oversee cement production and ensure equipment performs as designed. The role includes expediting responses to problems to minimize interruptions and enforcing plant safety and working rules.

The successful candidate will supervise bargaining unit personnel on shift as directed by the Production Manager and coordinators, carrying out shift activity logging, reporting, and documentation tasks.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to work safely in an industrial environment.
• Minimum of 4 years of cement and/or mining industry experience.
• Operational and mechanical knowledge of cement processing equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to provide work direction.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and conducts monthly safety meetings of all shift personnel.
• Observes the facility for any environmental emissions.
• Organizes and supervises activities of bargaining unit personnel on shift.
• The scope of supervision is focused on production, shipping, and yard activities, but may include activities of other personnel, e.g. maintenance personnel.
• Documents shift activities in a shift activity logbook.
• Ensures that personnel supervised are properly paid and that their overtime records are current and accurate.
• Documents equipment mechanical problems beyond the capabilities of shift personnel to repair.
• Prepares written reports as required, e.g. safety meeting minutes, letters of recognition.
• Submit documentation to the appropriate personnel upon completion.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Production Supervisor is responsible for inspections of production to verify that the equipment is physically performing as designed, while responding to operational problems expeditiously to preclude or minimize production interruptions. Individuals are also responsible for enforcing Plant safety, working rules and policies.

The successful candidate will supervise the activities of bargaining unit personnel on shift as directed by the Production Manager Coordinator(s).

• The scope of supervision is focused on production, shipping, and yard activities, but may include activities of other personnel, e.g. maintenance personnel.

• Documents equipment mechanical problems of a magnitude or scope beyond the capabilities of shift production personnel to repair on a Work Order Request.
