  • Perform safety and environmental audits and assist with environmental regulations.
  • Ensure workplace safety at the start of the shift.
  • Oversee and manage manpower planning of the respective shifts.
  • Follow procedures to ensure customer products meet specifications.
  • Ensure product quality and avoid large rejections.
  • Provide tools to direct reports for efficient function.
  • Work towards achieving KPIs in safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects like cost reduction and productivity.
  • Demonstrate leadership in resolving issues.
  • Keep the plant well-organized.
  • Mentor, coach and administer disciplinary activities.
  • Provide input and deliver employee performance evaluations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Production Supervisor is responsible for the efficient, cost-effective, and safe operation of the shifts. Instructs assigned workers with proper tasks pertaining to grinding, polishing, loading/unloading, shipping/receiving, quality control, and furnace operation in a safe manner achieving a quality product. Performs any special work as assigned by the Plant Manager. Leading by example, sets a strong "Safety & Quality First" image, and support the company’s Mission and Values and philosophies described in the Employee Handbook. Performs work as required and any or all of the job duties relative to various other positions in the department. Continually monitors safety procedures, quality, and quantity of work. Directly responsible for the safety, morale, motivation, manpower, training, and development of the efficient operation of the processes.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Follow company operating procedures to ensure customer products are processed appropriately and meet the required specifications.
  • Ensure product quality and avoid large rejections.
  • Provide all the necessary tools to direct reports for them to function efficiently.
  • Work towards achieving the targets for key performance indicators in areas like safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects like cost reduction, productivity improvement, ergonomics, etc. for the plant.
  • Demonstrate leadership in resolving issues.
  • Keep the plant well-organized.
  • Mentor, coach and administer disciplinary activities.
  • Provide input and deliver employee performance evaluations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge Skills / Abilities
  • Ability to plan and manage a complete manufacturing processing operation. Adhere to company policies and procedures to maintain high-quality standards and achieve quantity goals to maximize profit and return on investment.
  • Must be able to use computer with the following programs – ERP system, MS Word, Excel, Outlook.

Requirements

Qualifications
  • Associates Degree (Preferred).
  • Requires precision machining experience and be able to train team members and troubleshoot machining issues. Parts or bar grinding experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of equipment, continuous improvement, quality control, shipping and receiving, safety and environmental functions.
  • Requires organizational, leadership, communication, and supervisory skills with a minimum of five to seven years of related experience.
