Job summary

Tenneco in Cambridge, Ohio, is seeking a planning and scheduling professional to lead manufacturing and maintenance coordination. You will help plan production schedules, manage inventories and budgets, and align with the Plant Manager to meet goals.

Responsibilities include coordinating with Maintenance and other departments, driving safety, productivity, and cost improvements, attending meetings, and ensuring on-time delivery and optimal capacity utilization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent as defined by completed coursework plus work experience or
  • At least 5 years experience in a manufacturing shop of similar size and complexity.
  • 3 years’ experience in high volume production operations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and in-depth experience working in a union environment.
  • Experience that transfers to administering a collective bargaining agreement.

  • Supervise departmental safety programs and participate in plant safety meetings.
  • Supervise preventative maintenance and tool conservation programs with Plant Maintenance.
  • Enforce company policy and shop rules within the department.
  • Manage inventories and departmental operating budgets.
  • Review engineering changes to maximize capacity, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
  • Attend daily, weekly and monthly production meetings to set focus and backorder priorities.
  • Communicate material shortages, delays, or capacity limitations to the Process Manager.
  • Initiate actions to prevent future reoccurring issues.

Job description

Plan, direct and coordinate all manufacturing functions and related maintenance service functions for production. Assist in planning production schedules ensuring finished product shipping schedules are achieved. Work within existing inventory and budget levels to produce product. Assist Plant Manager in attaining goals.

The responsibility of this position includes coordination with all Manufacturing Departments, Maintenance Department and other departments to achieve the production plan and master schedule.

The additional challenges of this position relate to meeting diversified production schedules within established time, quality and cost standards and to seek new production productivity. Scrap reduction represents an ongoing challenge requiring coordination among all department personnel.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Responsible for overall departmental safety, productivity, and quality levels.

Conduct shift employee meetings and follow-up daily.

Supervise departmental safety programs, responsible for departmental safety performance and participate in plant safety meetings as required.

Supervise departmental preventative maintenance and tool conservations programs in conjunction with programs established by plant maintenance.

Responsible for departmental enforcement of company policy and shop rules.

Responsible for departmental inventories and departmental operating budgets.

Review and monitor the implementation of engineering changes and improvements to machinery and equipment to maximize departmental capacity, capability, efficiency, and cost effectiveness. This includes good feedback communication to Manufacturing Engineers in charge of the projects.

Attend, as necessary, daily, weekly and monthly production meetings with the Process Manager to set departmental focus and backorder priorities.

Communicate the status of material shortages or delays or capacity limitations to the Process Manager.

Initiate actions to prevent future reoccurring issues.

MINIMUM EDUCATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent defined as:

  • Completed course work combined with work experience OR
  • At least 5 years experience in a manufacturing shop of similar size and complexity.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

3 years’ experience in high volume productions operations.

Strong interpersonal skills and in-depth experience in operating in a union environment.

Must have experiences that will transfer to administering a collective bargaining agreement.
