Job summary

Job Juncture seeks a Production Supervisor in Pittsburgh, PA to lead a crew and drive safety, quality, and continuous improvement on the shop floor. The role focuses on developing employees’ skills through robust training and coaching opportunities and ensuring adherence to all production procedures.

The ideal candidate will have a BS in a related field and 3+ years of supervision experience, with HACCP certification and SQF fundamentals preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar working environment.
  • HACCP certification and SQF fundamentals are desirable.
  • Ability to supervise staff and provide clear direction.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with GFSI, ISO, cGMP, HACCP, Food Safety and related procedures.
  • Lead plant safety activities including audits, toolbox talks, and coaching sessions.
  • Coordinate batching and processing areas to meet quality specs and schedules.
  • Manage receiving and material-handling with related teams; supervise staff.
  • Train, coach, and evaluate staff to maximize engagement and outcomes.

Job description

Salary : $ 75,000.00- $ 95,00.00 Supervise -5 Directly ; + 1 Indirectly

The Production Supervisor will provide leadership and direction to a crew of production employees to achieve site goals including safety, performance, continuous improvement, and team development. This role is responsible for developing and enhancing skill sets of current employees across multiple aspects of the production process through robust training and coaching opportunities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • 1. Ensures all GFSI, ISO, cGMP, HACCP, Food Safety, Food Defense, Prerequisite programs, and operating procedures are in place, trained, and in compliance
  • 2. Participate in plant safety activities including, but not limited to, completing safety audits, toolbox talks, and coaching session
  • 3. Coordinate and supervise the batching and processing areas of the plant and ensure adherence to quality specifications (in-process and finished product)
  • 4. Coordinate the receiving and material-handling personnel and departments parallel to the Traffic and Inventory Management leads
  • 5. Manage and communicate scrapped material inventory for recycling and/or sale
  • 6. This role ensures safe processes and work conditions through activity management in Safety, Health and Environment (SHE)
  • 7. Establish and adjust procedures to meet production schedules, efficiencies, and budget objectives
  • 8. Verify accuracy and quality of daily production and explore ways of streamlining production processes and reducing waste
  • 9. Direct daily setup process for production line and filling areas
  • 10. Responsible for training, coaching, and evaluating performance of assigned staff to maximize employee engagement and desired outcomes
  • 11. Ensures plant compliance with all company, local, state, and federal standards for safety and environmental requirements
  • 12. Communicate all changes to Production Manuals and procedures to meet SQF standards.
  • 13. Take an active involvement in all Company quality or continuous improvement initiatives through regular root cause identification and participation on improvement teams (e.g. ISO audits). Encourage and facilitate the involvement of the hourly workforce.
  • 14. Assist the SSHE manager for any necessary quarterly or annual training that must occur.

Bachelor of Science in Business, Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering or related field of study. 3+ years of experience in a similar working environment.
