Job summary

Mondi plc is seeking a Night Shift Production Supervisor for the Pittsburgh facility to lead the production team and ensure safety, quality, and efficiency across the shift. The role directly supervises 20–30 hourly employees and drives performance against targets through effective scheduling, problem-solving, and adherence to GMPs.

The ideal candidate has supervisory experience, a manufacturing background, and familiarity with Lean Six Sigma.

Qualifications

• 3 years supervisory or leadership experience preferred
• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience
• 2+ years manufacturing experience
• Lean Six Sigma or similar improvement methods preferred
• Technical training preferred
• Industrial safety training preferred

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day operations to ensure safety, quality, and productivity
• Maintain and improve production performance with direct labor cost oversight
• Ensure compliance with run speeds and setup times
• Address downtime issues with the department and provide improvement support
• Communicate expectations clearly to shift employees
• Review product quality and sign off on production runs
• Maintain logs and safety compliance, reporting documentation
• Prepare shift reports and discuss performance in handoff meetings
• Train, motivate, and mentor employees; conduct evaluations for new hires and operators
• Enforce GMPs and company policies; document non-compliance for action
• Maintain positive work environment and monitor staffing and timecards
• Participate in meetings to review monthly shift and plant performance

About the Role

The Night Shift Production Supervisor will be responsible for leading, motivating, and supporting the production team for their assigned area and shift at the Pittsburgh facility in exceeding goals by monitoring: day-to-day production activities to ensure that production efficiency goals are being met; safety protocols are being followed, and quality product is being produced during their shift. Directly supervises 20-30 hourly employees. Plans and controls production performance as measured against operating targets developed according to machine capabilities, manpower capabilities, and projected business. Ensure compliance to established customer quality and production standards. Actively leads and participates in plant safety and housekeeping as well as ensures completion of all required paperwork, schedules, work orders, etc.

Your Mission

• Supervise employees in the day-to-day operations to ensure safety, quality, and productivity
• Maintain and improve production throughout and work with their Manager to maintain direct labor cost
• Ensure compliance with established run speeds
• Ensure compliance with established set up time
• Address mechanical, operational, and technical downtime issues with department
• Provide support for on the job assignments and continuous improvement initiatives
• Clearly communicate expectations to employees on shift
• Review product quality and complete product sign off for each production run and any necessary checks during the run
• Maintain all required logs and reporting documents and adhere to all safety regulations, procedures and policies
• Prepare shift reports as required to show performance and explain issues during the shift for equipment not meeting performance
• Participate in shift handoff meetings to discuss relevant information for your shift and also to discuss shift performance
• Train, motivate, and mentor employees (both new and existing employees)
• Conduct performance evaluations for all new hires (bi-monthly) and Operators (monthly)
• Enforces Company policies, quality procedures, and Good Manufacturing Polices (GMPs) by ensuring employees understand and follow rules, addresses non-compliance on the shift it occurs, and documents issues for further action
• Maintain a positive working environment among employees
• Monitors Report offs and fills vacancy
• Reviews, updates, and approves shifts’ timecards daily in ADP
• Participate in Meetings to review monthly performance for shift and plant

Your Profile

• 3 years supervisory or leadership experience is preferred.
• A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, or equivalent and applicable work-related experience
• 2+ years experience working in a manufacturing environment
• Previous experience with Lean, Six Sigma or other relevant continuous improvement methods preferred
• Technical Training preferred
• Industrial Safety Training preferred
