Job summary

Europastry in New Jersey is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead a dough production team responsible for assembling bread and sheeted items. You will plan line activity, monitor performance, train staff, and resolve production issues to maintain safety, quality, and throughput.

You will supervise molding, shaping, and inspection tasks, coordinate breaks, review KPIs with leadership, and drive continuous improvement on the line through teamwork and problem solving.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of supervisory experience in manufacturing.
• Food manufacturing experience is preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish required.

The Production Supervisor coordinates and supervises production team members responsible for assembling dough products for mass production of bread and sheeted items. This role supports safe, efficient, and high-quality production by planning line activity, monitoring performance, training employees, and addressing production issues as they arise.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Study the production schedule and prepare a labor and machine plan for each line.
• Supervise workers engaged in molding, shaping, and manipulating dough into specific shapes and sizes.
• Rotate workers at appropriate intervals to maintain consistency and productivity.
• Assign tasks according to work schedules and coordinate breaks and lunch periods.
• Meet or exceed company quotas for high-labor bread items.
• Know the location and operation of all emergency stops on all lines.
• Record freezer temperatures at required intervals in accordance with specifications.
• Remove product samples at required intervals for quality control inspection.
• Visually inspect products for open seams and position products properly for freezer entry.
• Identify inconsistencies and work with line operators to correct issues.
• Suggest production schedule changes to improve throughput.
• Analyze and resolve work problems or assist employees in resolving work problems.
• Train and lead new employees on the production line according to company specifications.
• Identify ways to motivate employees and support achievement of work goals.
• Alert the Production Shift Manager to complications or situations that may arise.
• Maintain time records, production records, daily activity reports, downtime reports, and scrap accumulation records.
• Ensure proper disposition of scrap.
• Follow the end-of-run marker procedure and coordinate product marker changes and related paperwork.
• Ensure machines are adjusted as needed for production.
• Assist machine operators with replacing metal plates during job changes.
• Fill automatic dispensers with ingredients or spices to ensure even distribution as products move along the line.
• Separate product and place it in line formation as needed.
• Identify and report machine malfunctions.
• Lead, mentor, and supervise employees to achieve expected results.
• Review safety issues with the Shift Assistant Manager and Director of Manufacturing.
• Interface with Quality Control to maintain product quality standards.
• Review and interpret established production KPIs with the Production Superintendent and Director of Manufacturing, including scrap and waste performance for each line.
• Prepare employee performance analyses and reviews for direct reports.
• Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment required.
• Food manufacturing experience preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
• Ability to identify and analyze process constraints and implement effective solutions required.
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills required.

Education

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
