Job summary

Justrite Safety Group is seeking a Production Supervisor in Mattoon, IL to oversee day-to-day plant manufacturing operations and ensure on-time shipping, cost control, and quality. You will implement safety programs, mentor a union workforce, and report to the Operations Manager.

You will drive continuous improvement through 5S, SMED, and Kaizen events while building a strong safety culture and aligning with company goals. This role offers growth within the organization.

Qualifications

• A.S. in a technical or management field required.
• 2 years supervisory experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles including 5S, SMED, and Gemba.

Responsibilities

• Direct production lines to meet shift production goals; coordinate start-up, shut-downs, and changes.
• Oversee operational training of new and existing employees and address safety, attendance, and disciplinary actions.
• Staff scheduling including assignments, vacations, overtime, and meetings.
• Conduct safety audits and toolbox talks; enforce PPE and ergonomic policies.
• Develop and present forecasts, productivity, and safety reports; lead process audits and corrective actions.
• Identify and lead Kaizen events related to 5S, standard work, SMED and process flow.

The ContributionYou’llbring to this Role:

TheProduction Supervisorwill supervise the day-to-day plant manufacturing operations. This includes ensuring timeliness of shipping goals, costobjectivesand quality standards are met. This role also implements all safety programs, and fosters a strong safety culture by promoting awareness, accountability, and proactive safety measures. Reviews orders andproductionsschedules todeterminework force adjustments. This role supervises a team of hourly union employees.

WhatYou’llDoat Justrite:

• Direct production lines to ensure shift production goals are met. Coordinates production start-up, shut-downs, and change-over. Communicate with Production Control, Quality,Purchasing, and Maintenanceregardingall aspects of production tomonitorquality, quantity, and cost within specifications. Monitors and takes appropriatetimelyimprovement action to meet production quality and quantity needs.
• Oversees operational training of new employees and continual training of existing employees on production changes, safety issues, products, etc. Administer and investigate accidents, attendance, and process disciplines along with corrective action counseling.
• Responsible for staff scheduling toinclude;work assignments/rotations, employee training, employee vacations, overtime assignments, back-ups for absent employees, temporary employment, etc. Schedule andparticipatein Company-wide department meetings.
• Conduct safety audits, observations, training, and "Tool Box" talks with employees to ensure a safe working environment. Adheres and enforces company policies and proceduresregardingPPE, accident investigations, and ergonomics.
• Develops, analyzes, and presents reports, including but not limited to, forecasts, productivity, and safety. Conduct, lead, or implement theappropriate processaudits; the audits willidentifythe need for theappropriate containment, corrective, and preventive actions, leading to minimizing oreliminatingprocess deviations and non-conforming product root causes.
• Identify, plan and lead Kaizen events related to 5S, standard work,SMEDand process flow to drive a culture of continuous improvement.

Your Skills and Expertise:

To ensure your success from day one in this role, Justrite requires the following qualifications at a minimum:

• A.S. in a technical or management fieldrequired.
• 2 years supervisory experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment.
• Working Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles to include 5S, SMED, Gemba etc.

Additionalqualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Metal fabrication experience preferred.
• Strong analytic skills including the ability to process workflow Experience working in a team environment preferably with a small to medium size company.
• Strong coaching and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office. MAPICS experience preferred.
• Ability to walk, sit, bend, twist and navigate all areas of office and plant.

Compensation:

The position offers a competitive base salary ranging from $63,000 to $71,400.

Actual base salaries will vary and may be above or below the recommended pay range based on factors such as but not limited to location, relevant experience and performance. Additionally, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan to enhance their overall total compensation package when Justrite Safety Group and their business units achieve annual business and financial targets.
