Production Group Leader - Qualifications and Requirements

Description – Supervise a medium to large group of employees involved in plant production operations. Provide leadership for Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE). Work is generally of a technical nature with the ability to make decisions within the limits of general standards and practices. Some guidance received from a supervisor.

Scope of Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for the effective use of personnel, materials, and equipment.
2. Promote a safe work environment with proper housekeeping standards and workplace organization. Conduct safety talks, job instruction training, ergonomic evaluations, and safety incident reports & investigations.
3. Provide an environment that stimulates team members’ involvement & personal growth by maintaining communication, soliciting suggestions, developing training plans, maintaining attendance records, implementing performance improvements, standardizing work, supporting team meetings, facilitating job rotation, and working with UAW to resolve problems.
4. Understand and comply with the terms of local and national labor agreements.
5. Inform management and others outside the work group of developments as they occur.
6. Maintain awareness of quality standards and processes, communicate department quality goals, and leverage resources to solve quality problems. Implement problem-solving processes.
7. Liaise with customers regarding quality issues and coordinate countermeasures.
8. Respond to work environment needs to meet production schedules.
9. Willingness to rotate shifts is required.
