Job Summary

The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading, developing, coaching, and motivating high-performance work teams within the assigned manufacturing operation. Focusing on safety, quality, delivery, and productivity, the Production Supervisor will ensure achievement of daily production goals, identifying work stoppages or roadblocks, and implementing corrective actions. The candidate will work closely with multiple functional areas to optimize material flows, equipment uptime, and staffing within the area to meet or exceed daily business objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervise daily production operations to meet safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals.
  • Prioritize and monitor tasks; schedule and assign personnel to achieve production targets.
  • Coordinate with other departments to resolve production, quality, maintenance, and material issues.
  • Enforce safety procedures, ensure training compliance, and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Maintain and update SOPs; ensure adherence to production and quality standards.
  • Train and develop team members; communicate expectations and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Lead or support incident investigations, RCAs, and corrective action activities.
  • Analyze production data to identify improvements in efficiency and productivity.
  • Ensure equipment readiness; report issues promptly and coordinate repairs with maintenance.
  • Keep plant management informed of shift performance and operational status.
  • Ensure proper handling of rejected materials and accurate reporting of production, scrap, labor, and personnel data.
  • Conduct team meetings and participate in cross‑functional communication.
  • Monitor setups, changeovers, downtime, and cleanup to maximize utilization.
  • Maintain housekeeping and enforce safety standards; report unsafe conditions.
  • Suggest and implement improvements to increase efficiency and process reliability.
  • Structure a learning environment conducive to the attainment of required operator skills and oversee training. Provide development opportunities to optimize performance and personal growth.
  • Complete production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising schedules, resolving problems, and reporting results on shift production summaries.
  • Resolve personnel problems by reviewing data, investigating issues, and recommending actions.
  • Lead or participate in incident investigations.
  • Investigate and respond to quality, press, maintenance, and material issues. Escalate and coordinate with appropriate department as needed.
  • Maintain responsibility for all processes, equipment, team members, safety, and housekeeping of the assigned area.
  • Ensure reliable labor and personnel information by recording accurate data into required systems and documents.
  • Communicate customer concerns, process changes, quality concerns, and safety concerns to production team members.
  • Monitor setup, changeover, downtime, and cleanup accounts.
  • Assist with corrective action activities applicable to production operations.
  • Prepare reports recording daily production and scrap.
  • Lead or support incident investigations (duplicate but retained for completeness).
  • Perform additional tasks as deemed necessary and appropriate.
Education and Experience
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in manufacturing production supervision, preferably for an OEM supplier.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in metal stamping and/or robotic weld assembly.
  • High School Diploma required; College degree preferred.
  • Metal Stamping and/or robotic weld assembly knowledge.

Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, using hands to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, tools or controls, reaching with hands and arms, climbing stairs, talking, and hearing.
  • Occasional lifting or moving up to 50 pounds.
  • Exposure to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
  • Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted.
