Assembly 2nd Shift Operations Manager

JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for managing and executing the daily operations of the Assembly Department.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the Safety of all associates within the operations group and ensuring the safety policies and guidelines are followed
- Ensure Quality requirements are met per department standards and report any issues to Quality Manager
- Monitors and reports daily Production activities
- Leads the development of work instructions, training on processes, and supervises daily operations
- Identifies, develops, and implements strategies to attain production targets
- Leads daily production meetings to communicate production goals and provide feedback on overall team performance
- Evaluates employee areas of improvement and implements strategies relating to employee development
- Lead continuous improvement efforts based on Key Performance Indicators (KPI) data
- Provides overall employee/team development strategies through training, coaching, counseling, and performance measurement
- Responsible for the engineering functions of the assembly department
- Ensure that SAP system is being used for all aspects of inventory control and material identification. Report critical material or shipping shortages/issues to the Materials Manager
- Support and ensure adherence to all daily 5S and work area organization
- Know and enforce health, safety and environmental rules
- Know bypass safety systems and devices
- Investigate and report accidents and incidents in your area
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS
- BS in Operations Management, or other similar type of business curriculum -or- 8 plus years experience inautomotive transfer/prog press/metal stamping/robotic welding;
- Experience in managing other employees.
- Previous automotive manufacturing experience
- Familiarization with MRP and scheduling concepts preferably SAP
- Exceptional computer skills, particular with Excel and Production and Inventory Control Systems

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands tohandle, manipulate, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, talk and hear
Employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds
