Job summary

Huhtamaki is seeking a Production Supervisor to lead hourly shift teams and Continuous Improvement initiatives in a climate-controlled office-to-floor environment. You will direct daily production activities, champion safety and quality standards, and coach staff to achieve throughput goals.

Experience in manufacturing leadership, strong communication, and the ability to drive change are essential. Some travel may be required. This role is based in Hammond, IN with on-site responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise hourly Production shift employees and CI teams.
  • Champion and participate in Safety, GMP and CI efforts.
  • Direct daily production activities including safety, quality, throughput, and maintenance.
  • Schedule, plan and lead improvement teams, activities, and small projects.
  • Develop employees and maintain positive employee/management relationships.
  • Effectively communicate with all levels of the Company and troubleshoot production problems.
  • Manage hours, scheduling and payroll using UltiPro Payroll System.
  • Complete various reports as required.

It’s every one of us working together.We offer a place where you can feel safe, be supported, and make an impact so we can all focus on the future together.Essential FunctionsSupervise hourly Production shift employees and Continuous Improvement (CI) teams.Champion and participate in company Safety, GMP, and CI efforts.Direct daily activities of Production included, but not limited to, safety, quality, throughput, and maintenance.Manage and supervise employee performance through training, teamwork, counseling, and progressive discipline.Schedule, plan and lead improvement teams, activities, and small projects.Develop employees and maintain positive employee/management relationships.Effectively communicate with all levels of the Company.Troubleshoot production problems.Manage employee hours, scheduling and payroll etc. using UltiPro Payroll System.Complete various reports, as required.All other duties as assigned.Job QualificationsRequiredStrong computer skills, including Microsoft Office required.Ability to communicate at all levels within the organization.Able to implement change within the department.Able to motivate department employees to meet and exceed demands.Ability to close and complete projects in a timely manner.Must be self-motivated.PreferredHigh School Diploma or Equivalent; College degree preferred.Lean Six Sigma training preferred.3-5 years’ experience leading and supervising teams in a manufacturing environment.EnvironmentOffice work area is a climate-controlled environment. Requires time in the manufacturing area (<40% of time) where it is a hot/cold, dusty, and noisy environment. While in the manufacturing area, required PPE must be worn. Audiovisual capabilities of speech, vision and hearing required, including peripheral vision and color discrimination capabilities. Lift light weight material with physical effort equivalent to lifting/moving materials up to 25 pounds. Sitting, standing and/or walking up to 8 hours per day.
