Job summary

Universal Stainless is seeking a Production Supervisor to oversee frontline operations in a stainless steel manufacturing setting in Dunkirk, NY. The role emphasizes safety, quality compliance, and efficient production to meet customer commitments.

You will plan manufacturing processes, supervise personnel, train staff, and drive root cause analysis to reduce downtime while maintaining cost targets. This position reports to Operations and offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of frontline supervisory experience in a line manufacturing role.
• Experience with stainless steel and specialty alloys desirable.
• Understanding of basic machinery such as forklifts and bandsaws.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety, environmental and quality policies are understood and followed by all employees and contractors.
• Determine product quality against customer requirements and decide disposition of material.
• Establish and enforce first-class housekeeping standards.
• Plan and operate manufacturing processes to meet schedules and delivery commitments.
• Maximize yields at lowest cost within established schedules and quality standards.
• Review production reports and resolve operational, maintenance or manufacturing issues cost-effectively.

Salary Range: $75,000.00 To $85,000.00 Annually

Essential Job Functions For Production The Supervisor:

• Ensure that all safety, environmental and quality policies and practices are understood and adhered to by all employees and contractors.
• Determine if product quality meets the customer requirements and decide proper disposition of material.
• Establish and enforce first class standards of housekeeping.
• Planning and operation of manufacturing processes to produce first quality product according to schedules required to meet customer commitments and delivery.
• Maximizing yields at lowest cost in accordance with established schedules and quality standards.
• Review production reports and resolve operational, manufacturing and maintenance problems cost-effectively and to prevent delays in production.
• Develop and revise standard operational and working practices to ensure compliance with all applicable quality standards and order requirements.
• Responsible for training of department personnel.
• Perform Root Cause Analysis to determine failures and implementing corrective actions.
• Ensuring facilities, equipment and control systems are maintained in a condition to safely and cost-effectively produce quality products.

Education / Experience Requirements:

• 5 years of “front line” supervisory experience in a line manufacturing role
• Experience with stainless steel and specialty alloys desirable
