Summary:

Serves as an advanced front-line production leader with increased responsibility for production planning, cross-shift coordination, resource balancing, and independent problem solving under the direction of the Plant Manager. Develops and adjusts daily and weekly production plans for assigned operations based on customer priorities, market rate of demand, staffing, materials, inventory requirements, and equipment capacity. Coordinates execution across shifts and support functions, resolves routine scheduling and operating constraints within delegated authority, and escalates decisions affecting customer commitments, overtime, staffing levels, or capacity. Provides leadership to hourly production employees and supports the development of less-experienced supervisors while ensuring safe, efficient production that meets quality, delivery, and cost expectations.

Core Responsibilities:

Profitably operate the production process within all applicable legal, safety, and environmental requirements. Communicate and implement procedures regarding safety compliance, hazard elimination, and accident prevention. Lead the response to shift-level safety concerns and ensure appropriate escalation and follow-through.

Develop daily production plans for assigned operations using customer and order priorities, market rate of demand, inventory needs, staffing, material availability, and equipment capacity. Establish production sequence and output targets, coordinate requirements across shifts and support functions, and adjust plans within approved priorities and staffing limits. Resolve routine production and scheduling conflicts independently. Escalate changes affecting customer commitments, overtime authorization, staffing levels, or significant capacity constraints to the Plant Manager with a recommended course of action.

Monitor and analyze production performance using Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) metrics. Identify trends and performance gaps, determine appropriate countermeasures, assign follow-up actions, and lead corrective action and continuous improvement efforts. Verify that actions are completed and produce the intended result.

Provide cross-shift coordination by communicating production status, schedule changes, downtime, quality concerns, staffing issues, material constraints, safety concerns, and recovery plans. Partner with engineering, maintenance, quality, materials, and other support functions to resolve issues and maintain continuity of operations.

Provide consistent leadership for hourly employees by setting expectations, coaching performance, recognizing strong results, addressing conduct or performance concerns, and administering corrective action in accordance with company policies and procedures. Complete performance reviews and establish meaningful development goals for direct reports. Problem Solving: Use production data and structured root‑cause analysis to resolve recurring safety, quality, delivery, cost, equipment, and process issues. Establish countermeasures and verify effectiveness.

Gaining Commitment: Use appropriate interpersonal styles and techniques to gain acceptance of plans, priorities, and corrective actions across shifts and supporting functions.

Building Trust: Interact with others in a manner that builds confidence in personal judgment, follow‑through, and organizational intent.
