V&V Supremo in Chicago, IL is seeking a Production Supervisor to manage daily manufacturing operations, establish work procedures to meet schedules, ensure safety, quality, and efficient labor use.

PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR

Salary Range: $70,000.00 To $80,000.00 Annually

Primary Responsibilities:

Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules

Identifies solutions to positively improve working conditions and direct/motivate workforce.

Provide and maintain necessary materials, tools & inventory levels for required objectives and work task.

Enforce guidelines for quality and safety. Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments of machines ensuring food safety

Responsible for production schedules, labor utilization and the estimation of worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment. Makes recommendations for continuous improvements.

Key Activities:

Supervises staff of 18 to 24

Safety

Ensure the monthly training is executed according to plan

Provide and verify the employees are using the right safety tools (PPE) and equipment

Lead by example, safety first and ensure employee ownership

Report any injuries, conduct investigation (root cause analysis) and develop action plan in conjunction with management to prevent it from reoccurrence

Responsible for following and enforcing safety (OSHA) regulations and procedures.

Quality

Responsible for being a resource for all SQF related policy/procedure inquires.

Responsible for reporting any potential food safety issues to Plant Manager and Quality Control Department.

Responsible for maintaining master sanitation schedule and sanitation standard operating procedures and ensuring sanitation needs are met

Meets or exceeds Pasteurized Milk Ordinance standards

Trains/retrains staff on policies/procedures that help ensure SQF adherence and promotes correct food safety related behaviors.

Maintains time and production records, requisitions, and verify product specs

Responsible for complying and enforcing all Safe Quality Food (SQF/HACCP) polices/procedures and requirements.

People

Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of production department

Plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures, recommends improvements in production methods and equipment, operating procedures and working conditions

Manage performance, drive accountability and recognition of employees based on job definition/classifications and performance metric (safety, quality, performance, cost)

Ensure CBA’s is followed

Verify and approve schedule hours

Performance/Production

Familiar with cheese manufacturing equipment and food packaging systems

Knowledge of Form-Fill-Seal Vacuum Packaging Machines

Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product

KPI daily reports (People, Quality, Production, Performance, Cost)

Conduct weekly cycle counts of raw materials, packaging materials and finish goods

Order materials based on production schedule and adjust in alignment with Plant Management based on availability

Cost

Ensure quality specs to avoid write off’s

Manage labor hours and overtime below or equal to be on target

Ensure pounds per hour per SKU are meeting or exceeding standards

Minimize waste product, supplies, materials and utilities

Maximize yield and minimize giveaway (overweight)

Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
