Job description

Sailfish is searching for an Experienced Production Supervisor. Hands on Experience in the Boat Manufacturing / Marine Industry is preferred.

JOB SUMMARY

This position requires supervising and monitoring of personnel to ensure that productivity is managed at an optimal level and company standards are being met at all times. Communication with other departments to allow proper schedule flow to obtain production is critical. Process analysis is desired to improve daily work outages for optimal productivity.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Responsible for the productivity and performance of personnel within given department in efforts to maximize performance and minimize the amount of labor required
Areas of Responsibility, but not limited to
  • Hands on working supervision
  • Enforce safety and sanitation regulations
  • Direct and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in the production or processing of goods
  • Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports, in order to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs
  • Confer with management and other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments
  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals
  • Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions
  • Demonstrate equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees, or assign employees to experienced workers for training
  • Observe work and other indicators to ensure operators conform to production or processing standards
  • Confer with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints, or grievances
  • Perform general warehouse cleaning maintenance

(Note - In addition to these functions, employees are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required)

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED
  • The ability to communicate verbally and in writing is a must
  • Multi-tasking skills are essential
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word
  • An ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences
EQUIPMENT
  • Various air and power tools
  • Working knowledge and experience with hoist system
WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Performing General Physical Activities: Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.

  • Non-Climate controlled environment
  • The ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
  • The ability to lift fifty pounds
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
  • Must possess the desire and ambition to work safely at all times and report all hazards to Management and Human Resources immediately
  • Must understand basic terminology such as OSHA, DEP, and other regulatory agencies
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment where designated, including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves etc
  • Must be able to physically handle the requirements of the job, including but not limited to: lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, twisting, turning, climbing stairs, reaching, grasping, gripping, pushing, pulling, and spending entire working hours on your feet, etc
  • Must be able to understand all safety related documents and work-site rules and practices, equipment operating instructions, documented safety management systems, and health and safety requirements, including the General Safety Rules and Individual Safety Commitment.
