Position Summary

Responsible for the overall leadership, management, and performance of poultry cone-line deboning operations. Ensuring production objectives are achieved safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively while maintaining regulatory compliance, product quality, customer specifications, and established company standards.

Provides direct leadership, coaching, and accountability to production supervisors and indirect oversight of hourly production employees. Responsible for maximizing production throughput, optimizing product yield, controlling labor and operating costs, minimizing downtime, and developing a skilled, productive, and accountable workforce.

Essential Job Functions

Job duties are as follows, but not limited to:

Production Management

• Direct and oversee daily debone operations to achieve production schedules, volume requirements, and customer commitments.
• Monitor throughput, line speeds, production efficiency, product yields, and operational performance.
• Identify and resolve production constraints, equipment issues, workflow interruptions, and operational inefficiencies.
• Ensure adequate staffing, equipment readiness, and material availability to support timely start-up and continuous production.
• Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce waste, eliminate downtime, and increase operational reliability.
• Collaborate with Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Human Resources, Shipping, and plant leadership to improve overall plant performance.

Leadership and Employee Development

• Direct, train, coach, and evaluate production supervisors to ensure effective departmental leadership.
• Establish clear performance expectations and hold supervisors accountable for results.
• Promote employee development, cross-training, succession planning, and retention.
• Address attendance, performance deficiencies, disciplinary matters, and employee relations consistently and professionally.

Financial and Operational Performance

• Optimize labor utilization, productivity, yield, and operating efficiency to meet established financial objectives.
• Control overtime, labor costs, product waste, rework, and other controllable operating expenses.
• Monitor production performance against established budgets, standards, and key performance indicators.
• Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising safety, quality, or customer requirements.

Food Safety and Quality

• Ensure compliance with USDA regulations, HACCP programs, SSOPs, GMPs, and company food safety requirements.
• Partner with Quality Assurance to maintain product integrity and customer specifications.
• Investigate product defects, nonconformances, and quality deviations and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure production employees consistently follow established operating procedures and quality standards.

Workplace Safety

• Maintain a safe working environment through proactive hazard identification, employee training, and enforcement of safety procedures.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and established company safety programs.
• Promote proper ergonomics, workstation rotation, and safe equipment operation.
• Investigate safety incidents and implement preventive measures.

Reporting and Accountability

• Ensure accurate and timely completion of production, yield, staffing, attendance, downtime, and labor reports.
• Review departmental results and communicate performance gaps, corrective actions, and operational concerns to plant leadership.
• Establish measurable goals for supervisors and monitor progress toward achieving departmental objectives.
• Maintain effective communication across departments and shifts to support production continuity.

Supervisory Job Functions

• Effectively manage a total staff of 2 Supervisors and up to 100 hourly employees.
• Supervise, coach and train employees, providing professional development through ongoing feedback of strengths and needed improvement.
• Manage employee performance, providing positive and/or corrective feedback.

Job Requirements

• At least five (5) years working in a management role, preferably in a poultry processing industry, with specific experience managing shipping operations. Other combinations of education and experience will be considered.
• Strong leadership and management skills in a high-paced environment.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
• At least eighteen (18) years of age.
• Must be legally eligible to work in accordance with federal and state law.
• Must be able to work various hours/holidays/weekends as required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in a cold and wet environment and other areas typical of a poultry processing plant.
