SALARY RANGE: $51,000 - $57,000 annually, plus comprehensive benefits package

Position Summary:

The Production Stage Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing all aspects of stage management related to rehearsals, performances, and production logistics. This individual works closely with artistic staff, choreographers, dancers, designers, and technical teams to support and uphold Atlanta Ballet’s artistic vision and performance standards. The ideal candidate is experienced in managing large-scale productions, reads music fluently, and has a strong background in working with professional dancers and union crews.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review and understand the Dancer’s Basic Working Agreement
  • Create and manage comprehensive production paperwork for all engagements:
  • Master score/call book
  • Casting sheet, sign-in sheet, timing sheets, production book
  • Generate and distribute documentation for technical departments:
  • Props lists and running sheets, deck and cue sheet, sound and rail cue sheets
  • Attend rehearsals, liaise with artistic staff, and coordinate technical needs
  • Acquire, organize, and maintain all rehearsal props and scenic elements
  • Coordinate with choreographers and designers to determine cueing and transitions
  • Produce and distribute rehearsal reports as needed
  • In collaboration with the Technical Director, develop and circulate the master production schedule
  • Oversee the procurement, duplication, and organization of audio/visual media for productions (CDs, Q-Lab files, etc.)
  • Support the coordination, tracking, and fulfillment of Atlanta Ballet’s production rentals, including costumes, props, and scenery
  • Stock and maintain the stage manager’s touring roadbox

Production:

  • Lead all aspects of load-in
  • o Set up production office, call board, first aid, dancers’ hospitality, and backstage areas
  • o Distribute crew documentation and facilitate onboarding as needed
  • o Assist with spike marks on the Marley floor
  • o Collaborate with props and prepare dressing rooms and performance props
  • Run all technical and onstage rehearsals, calling and coordinating all production elements
  • Serve as the primary caller for all technical departments during performances
  • Create and distribute a timely performance report for each show
  • Provide on-site event support including set up, breakdown, and AV coordination;
  • Ensure proper archival and storage of all production documentation post-performance

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with a collaborative mindset
  • Excellent communication, time management, and organizational abilities
  • Able to work independently while thriving in a team-driven environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, PC and Mac systems
  • Working knowledge of audio/video editing software (e.g., QLab, Audacity, Premiere Pro)
  • Experience with media servers and cueing media-integrated productions
  • Comfortable working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends based on performance and rehearsal schedules
  • Must have reliable transportation

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Stage Management, Theatre, or related field preferred
  • Must be able to read music fluently and call cues from a score – candidates will be tested on this skill
  • 3-5 years of professional stage management experience in performing arts (dance experience preferred)
  • Experience working in union environment (IATSE/AGMA)
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certified (or willingness to obtain certification)
  • Physical ability to lift up to 10 pounds or more at times;
  • Knowledge of or strong interest in ballet and the performing arts is also a plus.

Salary range is $51,000-57,000 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
